Yes Max they are indeed real and we now have solid proof! Tomorrow I will be putting mine to the live fire test. It hand cycles just great and with the feedlips removed it can empty itself in just under a second! From the way the inside smells like gunpowder I can tell it has already passed the live test too :super:

These drums are pre-production test drums, only a few made, for working out the final small "kinks" here and there before running "ALL" of them...

And nobody wants to miss this thread in Mike's section >>> http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=23607

Opened box at 12:00 today when it came through the door. :smoke: Popped on the metal feed lip clip, headed on out.

Loaded up and fired 100 rounds, only delay was loading her. Ran Winchester AA, Rem Game, Fed Game & Estate game loads. Didn't run slugs or buck yet or high brass shot, but that will be next outing.

If these are the pre-production alpha parts, finished product will not have much room for improvement.

Nice snug fit on all 3 S12's here.

Did I mention it ran flawless? I figured there might be a hang or two depending on ammo, but the stuff I ran didn't hiccup. Got to let the twitchy shoulder rest a bit.

Very nice sturdy design, excellent fit & finish of parts, reliable so far. We will put it through the paces in the upcoming weeks & see what shakes out.

Congrats Mike!

I dident expect to see these so soon, if mike sent me one I won't see it for a while LOL. They sent me to FL for a month of training, then back to NY for a while before I go home to WI.

I'll call and see if one was delivered.

I'm curious how long the life span will be in the drums. I plan on getting one myself. Also what part would wear out - the spring? Seems like a nice set up for HD.

I was going to start a complaint thread about the lack of high capacity mag choices for the Saiga but this would solve that problem.

Sorry 1liter, maybe make a trip on out & I'll let you play.

As for durability of these things I will say they are very sturdy. Possibly the spring may fail over time, but I don't know and may never know. Plus he has replacement ones for sale. The rest of it is really friggen tough.

All high on adrenaline & giddyness I fumbled this one while loading and it bounced on the concrete floor! :cryss:

Don't see a scratch on it though & it still ran fine.

+1

Mine got it's first accidental "drop test" on the way back to the range the other day. It wasn't locked in as securely as I thought it was and dropped out of the gun from the rack on the back of my golf cart, to the roots I was bouncing across at the time which jarred it loose. It hit the ground hard with a full load and bounced across the roots, rolling behind the cart.

Absolutely no damage and I could barely tell where it made first contact.

This baby's solid!

Hey Makc , I might roll through ATL mid next week on my way to the DC area . Would it be possible you to meet up with me and friend of mine who manages a local gunshop ?

He already owns and sells Saigas at the shop he runs , so I feel certain that the drum would be welcomed there too.

I'm in the atlanta area also and have a 8" s12 that would love to test.

Let me know which shop as I know most all the ranges and locations

I have 6 drums ordered and can't wait!!

I go to Moss Pawn all the time Ray is a big help with coversion parts and is where I bought my S-12. We should put together an Atlanta shoot sometime. I usually shoot at Autrey's Armory in Fayetteville or Lock Stock & Barrel in Grantville which has a 150 yard outdoor range as well as a 30 yard indoor pistol range
