Hiya Gary!

Want me to e-mail you a pictorial diagram? How about a video? Anything to help you out my friend. If you like I can have the short bus pick you up and bring you over for a demonstration.

1911

Yea.... send over the friggen short-bus....

I do SO miss my weekday joy-rides in that puppy. Although... I still sometimes find myself waking-up in the middle of the night with nightmares.... about that friggen fat-beotch bearded Oger (or old lady... don't quite remember; the dreams have kinda morphed into lunacy over the years) that use to drive us to the drooling daycare center.

It's oh so close now... can you hear the drums in the distance?

With all the positive reports so far, the trust we all put in Mike was well founded. :super:

I too hear the sounds of distant drums...they seem to be getting closer....

I hope the drums start getting shipped soon, the tile floors are starting to show signs of wear from all the paceing back and forth. Trying to be patient but all the posts about how well they work is making it difficult.

6x6pinz -- Dude, all joking aside, it is hard for all of us to sit on the sidelines and read and watch and listen to the few select lucky ones that were sent the MD Arms test drums and who are putting the drum through its paces. You're in good company.... and your patience may be challenged, but I know it will be worth it.

Heck, for all any of us know, some major or minor hick-up might be discovered or revealed with this test batch of drums which may require all of us that have purchased the product, to wait a few more months. I'm being completely serious when I say that. No one right now knows for sure.

The concept we all need to stay focused on, is that Mike D. is doing everything humanly possible to ensure this MD Arms drum is the ABSOLUTE best it can be, before it arrives on your or my doorstep.

So.... pull-up a chair and grab a bowl of popcorn (like 99% of us) and join in as we read what these wankers that have the test drums have to say about it.

No doubt. Would really much rather have a quality product than a product shipped before its time. In the Pinzgauer community we have been waiting for almost 2 years for a EFI system for the trucks. All the time reading the post of the results from the first prototype unit and how well it is working. Like Mike D. the builder of the EFI unit wants to put out the best possible unit and will not do so until he is sure that he has done all he can do. This is not a bad thing just requires patience. In the end we all will be very happy, this I am sure.

I have just taken possesion of a Smart car. This took all of a year on a waiting list to get. We are very pleased with it. The Smart car boards are full of people who want theirs now but have to get on a waiting list that is about a year to a year and a half long.

You see I am very comfortable waiting for what I want, just get anxious as the time grows near.

Just thought I would let you know that the MD-20 Drum is officially approved by 1911 Daughter. She absolutely had a blast blowing away paper with the Saiga combined with the MD-20 Drum. To quote, "Now I know what to do when a boy treats me bad!". Remember in your responses you are talking about my DAUGHTER! 1911 knows what to do as well. :ded: To all you single guys, I would say that this MD-20 Drum is going to be a chick magnet for the "right" kind of lady. Only thing left is for my son to stamp it with his admiring approval. Fantastic job, Mike! Thanks again for all you are doing for the Saiga community.

I did not see a ring!!!!!!!!!

Tain't none! She works for the Frisco Police Department and interned at the F.B.I. during college. Think I don't walk the line? and her momma shoots better than her with a .44 mag but we all carry 1911 now. Like Juggs said, momma had to step down to get to me. :)

That's EXACTLY what I want for the forum t shirt pic....

Now, how can we shoot that with a white background as a TIFF or RAW......

You got it bro! You may have to talk me through the setup on the camera though. I'll set up the background and lighting.

BTW....with the extreme amount of bad luck I had last week, I was unable to give a decent report on the functionality of my Drum from MD Arms.

I will say now though...it works PERFECT! I expected nothing less after all the talks Mike and I have had about it over the past year. I'm not surprised at all.

It still amazes me that there are some people on this forum who, until they started reading this and other new threads about the drum, or saw it in person, did not even believe it was real! I guess they thought Mike filmed all those videos on the damned holo-deck or something...

I want to thank Mike from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to send my friend Max off to the next life with a full "20 round 12 ga. salute"! His funeral was the first time I had the opportunity to test my drum and I did it with full confidence! The only pause between shots was to think of a different image in my mind of my buddy for each one. Thank you Mike!

There are just a few minor things we are discovering, and Mike has already seen, that will be addressed before the drum sees full production. I don't expect that will cause any major delays though...have confidence that this drum is the real deal! :super:

And about loading it....We are all finding the same solution, from what it sounds like, to make it easier on the hands and fingers when loading that many rounds into a drum with such a tight spring. Just like Mike's brother showed him, I came up with the same thing 1911 did. Push down on the front of the top shell with the palm of your right hand, with the drum sitting upright on a flat surface. ( BTW I want to commend Mike for designing it this way with the ribs providing a nice balancing support for the drum so it can hold itself upright and even hold the whole gun balanced upright with it loaded :smoke: ) Then while pushing that shell down, where the gear turns and it clicks to the next available position, you simply insert the next round under the feed lips. This process does not become any more difficult as the drum is loaded to capacity.

Great minds think alike I guess! :D

1911,

Cute pic of your daughter. Like the TOUGH 'PERSON' pose.

She looks innocent/harmless. Obviously NOT armed with that thing and I'll assume without also (with the PD and FBI stuff).

Good to see a family have fun. Can't wait for my boy to hit about 10 or 12. Hes 6.

Rounds are a bit more difficult to load then a USAS drum

This was the first thing that I noticed when playing with the drum. I have found an excellent solution that really makes the drum a breeze to load. I had an old tube of Official Cub Scout Axle Lube Graphite left over from building Pinewood Derby cars with my son 18 or so years ago. Of course any graphite powder would work. I rubbed the entire surface of the dummy round liberally with graphite and tried loading again. This time it was quite easy to load all 20 rounds by simply pressing down the previously loaded round with my palm (right hand) and then holding it down with my index finger (left hand) and inserting the next round (righ hand). I hope that's clear because it really made things quite pleasant.

1911

COBRA, JUST SAW YOU POSTED ON THE GRAPHITE ALREADY, I QOATED OFF THE FIRST PAGE. SO I GUESS EVERYONE GETS IT.

Yes graphite would surely do exactly what you stated. if you run out of your old soap box derby stuff you can buy tubes for 3 bucks from CMMG the guys that sell the beta-c mags. that stuff when put on the surface of the dummy rounds ends up moving up the chain lubing every round inserted and will stay where it is until the mag is dumped. it does an awesome job of lubricating all rounds. just a little info so everyone knows what he did and why it is so good and I will use it on all my drums (md-20) every time I load em up.

Hope yall had a great time at the florida shoot with the drums.I gave cobra my entire sob story in a pm as to why I didnt make it after buying 200 bucks worth of shells and prepped my svd and krink and loaded up an incredible amount of ammo in general to share with everyone at the shoot as an ice breaker as I am pretty darn new here. I will just say guys I wanted to be there but my heart said NO and turned off for 2.21 seconds.BTW nazi-nurses just love to clamp the shit out of your femeral artery while you are not sedated or plowed with pain meds. maybe next time if you have another shoot. sounds like very promising feedback from the field testers on the drums. big props for mke!

best regards david

Glad you were able to come back and stay with us for awhile longer Dave! That's some scary shit when the ol ticker cuts out on ya! Hopefully you can make the next one. I'm planning on trying to put something together in a more central location on the east coast (North Carolina) so it will be easier for more people to make the trip.

Actually it was 1911 who used the graphite. I've used it before too to fix problems in my stick mags. Great stuff! I'm just out of it right now. A number two pencil will also work in a pinch if you color the parts you want lubed with it. What I used on my drum was a silicone spray and it did make it easier to load (and unload I presume). I have also used Armorall in synthetic mags before with great results.

One key point that Mike and I were discussing last night was, it's really the scoop that benefits more from the lube, not the dummy round. The dummy round stays in it's own cog on the gear and only comes into play when it reaches the scoop. Mike is also playing around with the transition of the scoop, as I will be doing today, and it appears that is making it a lot easier to load.
