USP40 1
Would it be possible to thread the barrel that has been cut to 18" without pressing the bbl out? Thanks USP40

USP40 1
Thanks guys , I didn't make myself clear what I meant to ask about was the possibility of threading the bbl for Poly choke with bbl still in the gun. Thanks USP40
TonyRumore 1,332
Not a problem. It would be best to thread it on a lathe, using an internal expanding bore arbor to drive the barrel from the muzzle, on center. Then support the back end with a steady rest further down the bed. The barrel should really be turned down from .875 or so, to about .850 for threading, but you can get away with using an external tool and just crank the shit out of it. The barrels can vary greatly in wall thickness from one side to the other. So, if yours happens to be way off, then your choke will be off center compared to the centerline of the bore if you use an externally guided die. This particular barrel is off a bit, but certainly not the worst that I have seen. Tony Rumore Tromix Corp
