It looks like someone took a mill to a rifle length AR15 forend. I suppose that might be an option to look into. If it's relatively easy to convert something like a Yankee Hill Carbine length forend it would give people rails, and the basic freefloat rail is < $100. I've got a pistol length free float tube floating around. I'll see how it compares to a Saiga.

Here's the rail I'm taling about

That hand guard is the answer to a question that was never asked.

It's definitely FUGLY, but it does make me wonder about the feasability of using a free float AR forend, take the top off w/ a mill, add a plate at the back and possibly a retainer on the front for the stock forend mount. It might make a nice railed free float forend for a Saiga. Done right it wouldn't be any uglier than the UTG forend.

Well it seems throughly tested. I have high confidence in the product after reading lines in his ad like

"I have one fitted to my Saiga 12 but have never tried it on a rifle but I assume it will fit as there is not difference in the hand guards that I know of."

"Should install on you rifle with no mods although I hear Saiga does not hold tolerances to the highest regard so...."

and only $250!

Mike Davidson could take some lessons from this guy on quickly getting your product to market!

Best of all I love the background in the auction photos! That's some real studio setup there!!!

Come on! bubble wrap and an air pump is how I sell all my gun schwag... I mean

Well from looking at the seller feedback if you want to give it a try you should feel quite at ease that you will get your money back if not happy. What ideas have all you come up with lately? How many of you are motivated enough to try a new idea? Poor form for moderators to jump in and slam a guy that is probably a memeber..... :killer::killer: They are not exactly good looking guns to begin with anyhow :D

1. You were not a member here, when I "jumped in".

2. You changed the pictures in your auction since we first looked at it.

3. I did not comment on your part, only on your pictures! No disrespect, not trying to be a smart ass, jaylyman(204) 100% Positive is a great feedback, but I did sell a few more things on eBay then you have and I know first hand how imprtant good photos are - they are the first impression the customer gets of your product......

Oh, and another quick note: In your listing you state "less shipping and pay pal fees" There are no PayPal fees - PayPal credits the fees back when you hit the "refund" button - you might mant to correct this...

I have dealt with a lot of rifles and for the s12 I kinda like it. I have been looking around for quite some time for a decent hand guard other than the stock plastic crap or the monolithic quad rails that look like something out of star wars and are no longer made. Not saying im going to buy it, I think the price is too high but I am glad new ideas are coming out.

LOL... I was wondering which "mods" were the ones doing the slamming... I didnt see myself or juggernaut in here commenting anyplace...

And after that... The OWNER of the site summed it up pretty well.

Welcome to the forum, Audiofn... I think you will find that the reason some products are given some harsh "ratings" and close scrutiny is that we here are a pretty tight knit bunch... we are looking out for our fellow Saiga enthusiast, and try to steer each other clear of potential items that may cause more harm than good in the wallet department... although... not to worry... once you are among those here, you too will be welcomed and warned about potential troubles and in the know for great specials, and kickass deals!

SO, not to worry... make a SOLID product, and you will have thousands endorsing it in short order. On the other hand... make a bad one, and the Saiga world will know to steer clear. All *THAT* is up to you, my friend!

I for one am NOT knocking your product. I *WILL* say , however, that S-12 handguards and rifle handguards are not really interchangeable. They are to a small degree... but not exactly... they do not mount to the guns in the same way. Actually, there are about 6 different ways for a Saiga handguard to mount to a rifle or shotgun....It might be beneficial to make that known. Personal choice and variance of creations are what have made this website one of the best for conversion/custom information on the Saiga Platform. I am sure you will have those that *LOVE* your handguard, at the same time, there will be those that *hate* it... I for one HATE the look of an AR15 stock on a Saiga... to me it just doesn't belong there... but hundreds of members here use those very stocks and have made some damned fine looking conversions... all a matter of taste, and preference... with over 9500 members... you are never going to please EVERYONE... but you sure as shit are going to please SOME OF THEM!

In the future, If you choose to hang out here a bit more, you will find that if you need information, specs, or dimensions, just ASK... and you will be inundated with lots of folks wanting to help you make the best product you can for a gun that everyone here loves! Read the tech section it is a treasure trove of information compiled by users here for YEARS... it is THE single most helpful saiga knowledge reserve ON THE PLANET!

Trust me... there will be some ribbing... think of it along the lines of frat hazing. You will not find a more open forum on the web, and you will not find one that is as tolerant of ideas as this one is, too!

Just one small word of note... about the ONLY rule to really remember... as someone who is making parts to sell, we ask that you become a contributor to the site if you want to sell anything in the for sale section. Just a small donation to the forum gets you "Contributor" status and you can sell all you want! Want to be a business member in the future? For $100.00 you can upgrade your status, get your own section, banner adds, etc...etc...

Other than that, no racist issues... and thats about it really... aside from those rules... you can have a blast!

We hope you do!

Again, Welcome to the forums... and I hope things go well for you here... if you want Saiga info... *THIS IS THE PLACE* :super:

As you seem to lack the proper gene necessary to detect sarcasm without a little smiley there to guild you emotionally let me break this down for you. This product shows almost no testing, its designer/manufacturer can only assume which models it will fit.

Mike Davidson on the other hand has went to huge lengths to make sure that his product is well tested and as a result has been delayed in getting it to market.

Do you understand now or do I need to draw you a picture?

WOW....

1. I assume that there were more then one member to join since the start of this thread. I am a moderator of a very large site (over 60,000 memebers with hundreds of posts a day) and just feel that moderators should stay out of this type of thing. Do you know that the builder of that is not a member maybe even for a long time of your forum? But hey I just ripped into an employee today for bad mouthing the competition, just not my style.

2. You assume to much.... I did not change the pictures, I have nothing to do with that product.

3. Again not my part, not my pictures. Maybe he should bring Ansel Adams up from the dead to take better pictures? Oh better yet, maybe go to the titty bar with a fist full of one's and get some large breasted women to pose with it?? :D:D I have only sold 0 things on ebay so if you sold one you have sold a lot more then me. I sold a DVD player the other day for 259,000 dollars and did not even use a picture to do it, maybe I know a little something about selling things..... :D

Again not my product. May be good, may not, just betting that if some one was to buy it and did have an issue with it you will get your money back based on the buys feedback.

The "ribbing" is not what bothered me..... Obviously the seller has a sence of humor and he must be reading this because he did rename the product if you did not notice it is now called the "Fugly Stick" :D

I am not sure that I would call slamming this product that no one has actually seen as helping out. Heck maybe the pictures just suck and the thing is actually kind of cool? Maybe some constructive ideas and they can be incorporated into the product?

As you can see from my earlier post I am an AV guy. It would take a lot of these things to cover the profit on a DVD player that sells for 259,000 bucks. So I guess if you want to come and check out a theater that I have installed and let the Saiga guys know what you think I could arrange that for you? :D As a business owner I love it when people stick out their pecker and risk it for something like this. Some times you win, some times you do not. Maybe you will find this thing in a magazine some day and everyone will have to have it..... Some times to oddest things take off. Look at those crappy rubber shoes that all the doctors/nurses wear now!!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing the thing if it were a little shorter, maybe just past the gas block.

I LOVE the name "Fugly Stick", I named my kids' cat "Fugly" (the kids thougt it meant funny and ugly  ).

Audiofn, I would just like to know what kind of DVD player costs $259,000 bucks... I see them at walmart for less than $30 all the time... I know that for a couple hundred more you can buy a pretty sweet DVD player... PLAYER.. not even a recorder yet... I cant imagine what whistles and bells it comes with to be worth $258,970 more!

Also, chances are if you can sell that type of DVD player, which I would LOVE to know what make and model it is... I am willing to bet, that the guy that shells out that load of cash already KNOWS what he needs or has a pretty good idea... and it almost sells itself as it must be obviously some high end professional equipment that will let ya see the razor bumps on a porn stars poontang, and every droplet of sweat that runs between them... in full blown hi-def on a screen bigger than life.

I dont see selling that sort of thing as selling ice to Eskimos...

the thing is...

The MOST EXPENSIVE one I can find is this one...

http://www.bornrich.org/entry/worlds-most-...yer-by-meridian

It states it is the WORLDS MOST EXPENSIVE DVD player ( and its not the ONLY place to show this make and model...) and WOW... holy cow... it is $230,000 bucks cheaper!

Who doesnt have a DVD player today! I know, everybody has one, but I wonder who will have a DVD Player for $20,000! Yes, you read it right. Meridian Audio Ltd presents to you their exclusive range of DVD Players. The company manufactures the worlds most expensive DVD playback machine with prices starting at $19,950.

I am sure you must be thinking of what will you get in return for $20,000! Robert Stuart, the co-founder of Meridian rephrased the question to What do you get for so little? The Model 800 DVD Player is believed to be the pinnacle in audio and video processing technologies. The player plays video recorded in the American NTSC and European PAL systems and uses proprietary software to decode the audio, complex processing to increase picture resolution and extra buffer memory.

I imagine that you will be able to buy LOTS AND LOTS of Saigas with that extra $230,000 profit you just made!! ROCK ON!! :super:

I dunno... call me cynical... Somehow I think you are trying to blow smoke on this one... I guess I would ask to know the details of that sale... I dont buy it... sorry.

Hmm... did the guy that bought it drive this?!?!

http://www.bornrich.org/entry/diamond-cove...des-sl-spotted/

and use this to do his computer work?

http://www.bornrich.org/entry/official-pic...aptop-revealed/

Just asking...

I personally dont understand why you are so quick to jump on this guys bandwagon in a huff, as a first time poster... There was an old line from Shakespeare that might apply... "Methinks the lady doth protest too much..."

I tried to be civil, and welcome you here, not to keep fanning the flames...

Sure, I would love to have you set up a time when we can all kick back with a movie, I am sure the boys here would enjoy it. I also agree, that crocs are the most HIDEOUS footwear around. see? we have ONE thing in common! LOL

By the way... do you have anything Saiga oriented to add while here? or did you just stop by to lecture us on our "improper forum etiquette", your ability to mod such an obviously superior forum, your stellar sales techniques, and your theater building prowess?

Just wondering...

The DVD player that costs almost 300K is made by Kaleidescape. You can check it out at www.kaleidescape.com. When you add enough storage for over 6000 movies and mulitple players and readers, bulk loaders (buy buys over 100 DVD's at a time, last buying spree was over 600 you need the bulk loader) it all adds up quick. There is over 70 terabites of storage just for the DVD's.

As a business owner myself I respect people that put themselves out there to try something new. In this case a hand grip. It is very easy for guys to come on hear and rip a product but lets see what unique things that they have fabricated themselves and tried to bring to market. I have actually seen the product myself in person. It does look better in person then in the pictures. I have talked to the guy that makes it and he has got a lot of good and bad feedback. There are changes in the works from suggestions that he has gotten. Yes one of them is to make it shorter. All you have to do is ask the guy and he is happy to talk about the product and he will not BS you about what guns it will fit. If he does not know if it will fit he will tell you that. Seems like a straite shooter to me and he is crushing the clays at the trap range with the thing and I just laugh my ass off every time he brings it. I am not trying to start a battle hear just think that the product is unique and may actually fly once some changes are made that is all.

Ok,

Before this gets out of hand, I made this handguard not AudioFN.

Let me address the issues as I see them.

1) Ugly: To each his own I did not care for the forearms that were available

2) Shorter: I had always intended this as an option but wanted to see if any would see prior to making different lengths. I made one the length I wanted. A those who have seen it liked it so I made a few to sell. Looks like they are not selling any way.

3) Rails: The ad states that rails can be added. The rails can be added using already existing parts from Brownells and Cheaper Than Dirt as well as others.

4) The ad: I did not like the pics and still do not. I was suprised that an admin would jump in and bash any part of the product/ ad. I am self employed and until I know my client well I would not dream of adding any type remark that might be construed as insulting. I was not offended by the remarks. But should these find a market in one of Indys posts it is suggested that "donations " be made if I want to sell these here. That makes me a prospective "customer"

5) Well made: I believe it is well made. As do those who have seen it.

6) Cost: Unless going fully automated with CNC, welding and in house powdercoating I doubt I will make any more due to the time involved.

Mad Max: Would like more info on those forearms. My cost of meterials and subcontract right not puts those cheaper than mine and that does not include the 2-3 hrs per unit to fabricate at this time. If the screws you pictured are the mounting means I know my design is better. My design locks up solid and would give the same advantages of a free float AR style hand guard

Indy,

Good info: I made changes to the ad to reflect the info you provided. I did not want to release this on this forum as I wanted to get some more input on them. I do not have the means to aquire the # of rifles that would be needed in order to get a good cross section. Thus far of the ones I have made only minor dressing with a file at the rear mount has been needed to aquire a perfect fit.

I would be happy to answer any and all questions

Sorry for any mistakes in spelling/ grammer. I am late for work already
