use2b 0
Fine looking Finn. They are tack drivers with silver tips. I will show you what I did to mine. I bought this Sako at a Gun show from a guy walking around for $100 B Barrel also and mint! I also had this old Russian scope and it rained for a week here. I got bored and decided to fabricate a scope mount that looked like the real sniper or as close as I could get with parts on hand. I took a cheap SKS mount and removed the bottom half then drilled and taped the rifles receiver on the side. I then shaved a little wood so it would fit inside the stock and - presto - I have a sniper. [ well kinda ] shoots great and the scope is rock solid. just thought I would pass along a cheap way to do this other than pay the outrageous price of the real scope and mount. use2b 0
oh yes , i did turn the bolt down and bend it to pass the scope without hitting it just an Idea
vjor 2
Here is my ugly m39 in the process to be fitted for stock, scope mount the bolt was send to be polish and bend. This thing has taken so far 14 wild pigs and hope it will take some more in the years to come.
Vaarok 0
I thought about customizing my '39, but I get queasy at the thought of modding it now that I know the history of it. I'm especially glad I didn't drill and tap my VKT M1891 long rifle and jam it into a synthetic stock.
Spooge 0
I'm sad. I used to own two finnish M-39s Sold them both. The one was a sniper rifle (I refinised the stock and dam it looked beutiful.) They both shot dead on. Alas, one cannot keep all the guns and rifles in a life time. Although some may, I usually have to sell one to buy another. Theres always some weapon that comes along and calls my name : (

G O B 3,516
Enjoy what you have! I wouldn't sporterise an espically nice or rare warbird, but an average or 'shooter grade' IS FAIR GAME! And some of the best deals around are surplus or older guns that were either poorly sporterised or are just done in a style that was 'trendy'-20 years ago! (anybody remember 'high comb" stocks? G O B P.S. I like the finns!
