lollygagger 1
I'm getting ready to set-up my Saiga .308 (carbine)... And, using the factory scope mount, I did some trading for a commercial scope and came up with this Bushnell "Trophy" 1.75-5X by 32mm chunk of glass. It's kindda different than the usual long scope approaches (got one on a Leaper's Saiga scope mount if I just have to use it...it's on the 7.62x39mm Saiga). I just thought that a low power, wide angle, varible compact might compliment this particular weapon. Has anyone used similar glass? Opinions? Lollygagger
KySoldier 2
I like the shortness of it, the scope on my saiga-308 has the same mount and the objective lens is too big and comes in contact with the rear sight so I have to move it all forward.
gunslinger308 0
the russians seem to think that a low fixed 4x or 6x is good so that scope should be good too!
vjor 2
Look good, let as know how it works. Do not go with the philosophy of mother Russia , they do not care about a tight group as long they can hit you any were and put you out of commission in combat, that is why there scopes for the 7.62x39 are in the four powers. Now in a heavy caliber that can reach out and touch some one, I will pick some thing with at list 8 powers, any way the Ak family of guns are not long-range weapons, but at 300 meters can still reach and touch some one really hard and thinking that the saiga in 308 can do that with an 8-power scope. But who I am to talk to much bull, let as know how it work on your gun and how far are you shooting , how targets look and how the rifle groups, you never know when you can learn something new. Good luck and good shoothing.
lollygagger 1
Thanks for the replies. I'll get back with a shooting report. I've got other glass & appropriate mounts I can try. I just thought that the rifle being a carbine, somewhat compromising it's ballistics, and, these hills having little opportunity for long shots due the heavy cover -the low powered compact might be more appropriate. I have little doubt that it will swing on target faster. Also, the low power setting should handle almost like a combat sight...at least, that has been my past expereince with such glass on other guns. Guess I'll see.
