SaigaNoobie 66
Anyone have a 16" standard, no conversion .308 with synthetic furniture? I'd like to know the weight, unloaded, with the 8rd mag IN. According to the Springfield Armory Website, the 16" SOCOM M1A in Synthetic stock, weighs in at 9.3lbs. w/empty mag. Curious as to the weight of the Saiga.
zakmatthews 14
With the wood stock and the 21.8" barrel, it's about 8.5 lbs.

Twinsen 86
The SOCOM-16 weighs 9.3 pounds?! That has to be wrong... maybe that's loaded? I remember thinking they were the lightest .308's I'd ever held. Weird.
xjedix 6
My converted 16" weighs 8.34lbs with the synthetic furniture. An unconverted one should weigh about the same.

Bad Bob 0
The SOCOM-16 weighs 9.3 pounds?! That has to be wrong... maybe that's loaded? I remember thinking they were the lightest .308's I'd ever held. Weird. FWIW (and to add a little variety here ;>) my 16" FAL (which I built to suit my own tastes, not anybody's specs ;>) shows 9.2 pounds on our digital scale, including sling and empty mag. For the sake of calibrating things, my 16" 5.56 Saiga w/ official Warsaw Pact steel side-folding stock comes in at 8.8 pounds the same way...
