crunchy53 0
hey guys i took my saiga out to the range for the first time about a month ago and havent had time to clean it. i shot around 160 rounds of fiocchi. well today i got around to cleaning it when i noticed a groove and looks like it was made by the bullet slamming in at the wrong angle. does this look normal? should i worry or am i over reacting? i tried to take some pics but its hard. also when i manually cycled some rounds the looked like they were scratching something. heres alot of pics, hope its nothing. the groove is at the bottom part. kresk 10,063
The marks are from the double radius chamber on your 7.62x39. This is done intentionally due to Russian firearms regulations so they can tell cartridges fired from military AK's from those out of nonmilitary AK's.
Agias 0
The marks are from the double radius chamber on your 7.62x39. This is done intentionally due to Russian firearms regulations so they can tell cartridges fired from military AK's from those out of nonmilitary AK's. From what i understand he's talking about the wear on the bottom of the chamber, not the saiga cartridge dents. Edited June 25, 2008 by Agias
22_Shooter 1,560
Looks normal to me. Both of my Saigas have that "groove", as do all the pictures I've seen of other peoples Saigas.
mstranglr 9
All 7,62x39 Saigas have that "groove" at the bottom. None of my other rommy, yugo, chinese or bulgy x39 AKs have that groove - and my .308 and .223 Saigas do not have it. This leaves a small buldge mark in the bottom of the case for the reason stated by tritium. Are you trying to use AK mags? If so, your lack of a bullet guide would cause the scratching you descibed - and can be dangerous.
