Tokageko 8
...Oh My God! OK, so that's not too descriptive. I'll try a little harder here. ; ) First off, these have to be the "cutest little shotgun shells you'll ever see". They still pack a pretty good punch though. I tried cycling them through two different shotguns. One was a Chinese Ithaca model 37 copy. They worked ok through that one. As long as I held the gun level and pumped the action "with authority" (as my father is so fond of saying), they cycled fine. Couldn't get away with pussy-footing it though... it jammed every time. The other gun I cycled them through was an actual Ithaca Deerslayer Police Special (read: 7 round underbarrel magazine). They functioned flawlessly through that one, no matter whether it was tilted forward, backward, or to either side. I only actually shot them through the Chinese M37, the other shotgun is more of a collector's peice. Either way, the buckshot loads went right to point of aim. The slugs went high at any range out to 50 yards. Other than that, they were very accurate. The best part of all this? The Chinese M37 has a five round magazine; it holds eight of the minishells. The actual Ithaca held 12 (not counting the one in the chamber of course ; ) ). As far as power... I can't say much for the buckshot as I didn't have a good target to measure penetration with it. The slugs on the other hand penetrated at least an inch of oak at 25 yards. All together, very satisfied with the performance. Hope you've found this helpful, or at least amusing. Rock on.. J A 0
I have a Chinese YIMENG model YL12-1J2B which is one of the first imported Ithica M-37copies with a 18" barrel. It funnctions fine with the mini shells no matter how hard you pump it.
Tokageko 8
Glad to hear it. I'm generally willing to admit that it might be me. A note on the use of the phrase "with authority": I don't necessarily mean hard. Smooth and even is more like it. Controlled would be a better way of putting it really. I believe you have the same model of shotgun that I do. On that note, I do think that the Ithaca M37 is the best pump design ever. All other oppinions welcome and encouraged. Thank you for the input JA, I do appreciate it.
