THE_HUNTER 2
Anybody out there thinking of shooting old .22 ammo listen to this story. I had found a box of .22LR Mohawk Remington rounds in a falling down shack. They had been there since the 1970's but stayed dried high up in a closet, along with CCI birdshot rounds. The birdshot rounds all went off but some were like a light thud, and then I checked the barrel to make sure no obstructions. I was using them in a Steven's tip up pistol and a Ruger Single Six. OK, the Mohawk ammo, while testing them, I had 2 shells blow out the back of the primer in my Single Six! I called it quits and threw the rest away pronto. My left trigger finger got sprayed on the last shot with powder and fragments that I had to pick out. Be careful out there and keep your powder dry! I think the age and temperature change in the brass caused them to be brittle. Good thing I wasn't counting on these!
