New Tromix Muzzle Brakes - MONSTER COMP & Competition Brake

Recommended Posts

I have two new S-12 brakes now available. These will both be up on the Mississippi Auto Arms website by 7/16/08.

The first is a steel 3 gill/3 port Competition Brake 3.4" OAL, 7.5oz $150

The second is a steel 7 gill/6 port MONSTER Comp 5.8" OAL, 12.6 oz $250

I machine these by hand one at a time from solid bar stock, hence the price.

Limited Availability.

These brakes look bad ass. I'm glad I didn't ask like an ass when I first saw the competition model shotgun come out when the brakes would be available. Patience is a vertue many don't have, but all I have is time. Thanks Tony for another great product. :super:

Tony, those look awesome.

I have been thinking about some kind of brake also, and have only worried about the wad fingers opening in the brake and clogging it up. Are those brakes bores standard bore size through to keep that from happening? If not, then the length of the Monster brake suggests that wad opening is further away from the muzzle than I had thought.

The Monster is opened up more then the Comp brake.

I still need to test it though. I may have to open it up even more, but I don't think so.

Either way, there is plenty of material to make the bore larger if need be.

The Comp brake has already been extensively tested and it is fine with an .820 bore.

Yeah, it only took a year from prototype to production......too damn many irons in the fire these days.......

Tony

Thats what happens when all those "that'd be cool to make" ideas keep running through your head, I always end up with more irons than fire. :lolol:

LOL. Maybe we should start a "all iron and no fire left" club.

I quit making anything for AA guns after Bill's customer's forwarded me e-mails where he was telling them that I didn't know what the fuck I was doing. He later posted on barfcom that he was pleased to be such a big player in the arms industry that small guys like Tromix were able to make a living building add-on trinkets for his uppers.

If you want a nice muzzle brake for your Beowulf, call Bill Alexander and tell him to make you one like Tromix used to build.

Bill Alexander can kiss my white ass...........

How's that for f'ed up. Sheesh. Let me guess, Bill was hoping to sell his own glue on brakes instead, so he badmouthed the ones people wanted?

Just as a random thought, wouldn't it stick in his craw more if you were still making them and everyone used yours despite his badmouthing? It seems like there's still quite a bit of demand as people chuckle about the glue on or set screw versions. I'd happily post over on the Beowulf forums how much I love my Tromix brake if I could get a hold of one! It's a thought and I'd pay well : )

Back on the subject.......

I took out a few guns today and test fired the two new brakes. The Competition brake worked well...about 15% recoil reduction (my guess) and no blast in the face with a 19" gun. No wad strikes in the comp either. However, the shark brake has about the same recoil reduction to it, albeit, you'll get some wad strikes with some shells.

The MONSTER Comp surprised me a bit. The recoil reduction was about 20% and the blast off the 19" barrel was very noticable. It felt like shooting an 8" gun with the Shark on it. Clearly, the longer brake was really putting the gas back, much more then the shorter brakes......and there were no wad strikes on it either.
