Finally got my crappy jam cam to work again so here`s a pic of my saiga conversion, started out as a standard 20" 7.62x39 I added a G-tech trigger set,k-var butt stock and a U.S. made HK style grip. After a while I decided to really get busy and customize it to my liking and cut the barrel to 14" and welded the bulgarian `74 brake(bored out to accomodate the .30 cal. bullet of course) to bring the total barrel length to a legal 17"I had to push the front sight back to just in front of the gas block so it has a kind of krink look to it.That required me to add another U.S. part so I opted for the gas piston,I do believe the ban will expire next year so I scarfed up a romanian side folder and pinned it to the open position,I pinned it in such a way that I can un-pin it in `04 if the ban does expire as it should,of course this meant 1 more U.S. part,I decided on floor plates this time,I can make them myself from sheet brass so whenever I aquire a new mag I just whip up a new floor plate.

Not to bad for a red-neck with a few hand tools huh?

and after!

Cant decide whether I like the look of the folder or the standard stock, the standard sure feels better but I cant wait to un-pin that folder and have a real compact package.I dont know if you can see it from the pic but I just had to slot the handguard like the one on krebs site, you know where he sells the take off stocks from rifles he converted,I really like the way that slotted handguard looks so I had to break out the dremel and stuff and give it a go,it turned out quite nice, cool thing is the rifle is just as accurate now as when it was unmodified.
