Its finally here! Now the DRUM PORN!!!

Recommended Posts

First of all, I can't believe I'm the first person to post this. I was like Order #187 or something like that. I really thought I'd be forced to drool over pics of other peoples drums first before I got to handle mine. But NO. Now you are the ones who will do the drooling! :haha:

So what is it now? Thirteen months later? I lost count, but I didn't worry for a second because I had total faith in Mike Davidson to come through with this. Now the dream is reality. Its great being able to finally hold and cuddle the very item that has caused so much consternation and shit-storming. Now we can truly tell the naysayers to shove it! :P

Concerning the drum itself; the quality seems very high for a plastic mag, theres no flashing or excess molding that I can see. Its much smaller than I would have thought just from looking at the pictures, really not all that large, I don't think it'd extend further than an AGP. Its very light for a drum of this size, no way you could get a steel one this light. As far as loading goes it wasn't exactly smooth but was still very easy, not requiring much effort to push down the rounds. It did not seem to get any more difficult as more rounds were added, the last round loaded as easily as the first. Didn't even leave my thumbs sore. Mike included some very thoughful instructions which seem to address just about every possible issue he could possibly address, including a problem/recommended ammo list, assembly/disassembly instructions, and spring tensioning guidelines. He also has a very helpful section on fitting the mag to the gun (Cause we all know you don't fit the gun to the mag! ) which I found very useful. Neither drum would fit in either gun straight out of the box. Following Mike's instructions took care of that with about two minutes with a file. Really could not have been much simpler. Now the drums lock solid into both guns with very little play. Even less than some of my AGPs. Fully loaded, the drum was heavy but not so much as to make the gun cumbersome. I really expected this drum to be larger and heavier. FYI, for all you stealth ninjas out there it does rattle quite a bit when shaken fully loaded. You'd have a pretty tough time sneaking up on somebody with that. All in all I could hardly be more pleased.

Way to go Mike! We all had faith in you! Thank you for making such an awesome accessory for an already awesome

gun! :victory:

Now... THE DRUM PORN!!!

I really wish I lived somewhere where I could just poke the muzzle out the kitchen window and let off 20 rounds but unfortunately that will have to wait till I can take it to the range. Range report to follow!

Now thats some porn, almost feel like I need to pay to see this stuff. Who did the shorty? Is it tromix. I hope my 2 saigas look that sexy when my drums come.

Yes its a Tromix. I owned my first S-12 for less than a month when I realized I couldn't live without a Tromix 8'.

Nice guns, nice drums! Thks! :super: Can post any picture of the drum without the cover? I'm curious how the shells are arranged next to the other inside without messing with their rims...

Joe :smoke:

If you look at the pics closely, you can see the large plastic "gear". The teeth of these gears engage the shells. The rims barely touch if at all. In one of the above pics, theres a shot of the rear of a fully loaded drum with the "smoke" cover so you can see the shells within.

Here ya go Joe. I took these this morning of my Beta drum. My new one should be here soon.

The shells are held individually in the gear. I removed a couple so you can see.

CAUTION!! I DO NOT recommend anyone take the back cover off like this, with the spring wound, unless Mike says it's safe to do so!

I did this very cautiously and was watchful that it was not tilted where it could possibly launch out of there under pressure. Anyone who has ever replaced the pull rope on a lawn mower should know exactly what I mean...lol. It ain't purdy when it happens!

Awesome looking weapon, Will! And a lovely model to boot.

I gotta admit, I was afraid the MD20 would be way too big and heavy for the SBS. I mean the AGP mags look ridiculously long on one, I was afraid the drum would be even worse. Really not that bad though.

BTW, what? No muzzle device?

I got mine in today. Just got back from the range and ran 50 rounds down the pipe of my Tromix 8" without a single problem.

Winchester AA super handicap and super target.

I didn't have to fit my mag at all. Locked right up.

I had no problem getting around the drum, I have a folding verticle foregrip which I think helped.

Not too heavy fully loaded, very managable.

I was lucky enough to handle one of the beta drums and Mike fixed the "hard to load" problem.

No trouble getting the rounds into the mag.

I used to own the WM drums and I got a refund and put it toward the MD20.

Best thing I could have ever done.

Thanks Mike.

No device yet!

The drum is a bit heavy and may be too bulky for my purposes, but time will tell.

Got mine tonight. Big thanks to Mike. My order was placed 08/07 and he came through despite all the normal new product BS.

The only thing is it seems like a front pistol grip would help as you have to kind of angle your arm around the drum to hold the front hand guard.
