Ballistician 1
Does this stock fit our guns? And if it does is it any good compared to the RAA one? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS002-1.html
Cobra 76 two 2,677
The Fiberforce skeleton stocks will fit a stamped receiver AK variant like the Saiga, but you have to convert the weapon to it's proper configuration first by moving the FCG and trigger guard forward. A real SVD stock looks nothing like that and will not fit a standard AK receiver.
HK G3 1
The Fiberforce skeleton stocks will fit a stamped receiver AK variant like the Saiga, but you have to convert the weapon to it's proper configuration first by moving the FCG and trigger guard forward. A real SVD stock looks nothing like that and will not fit a standard AK receiver. Pardon my ignorance, but would this require gunsmithing, or is it something that one could do with a field-strip? If it requires smithing, is there a guide out there somewhere explaining the process?
Ballistician 1
Just do a search among the names of very common contributing members of this forum. I have a wiki on my desktop where I store everything...I should put it online when I get around to it. A txt file wasn't cutting it.
dyi 0
These require no mods: http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=111195942 http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=110893630 These require you to "convert" the gun to normal AK layout: http://www.ultimak.com/CHOS-B.htm
HK G3 1
Are there any significant differences between the "SVD" stocks that require you to convert vs. not in terms of recoil and functionality?
bobotech 3
Are there any significant differences between the "SVD" stocks that require you to convert vs. not in terms of recoil and functionality? I would say that the big issue is that the way an unconverted gun feels is just wrong compared to a converted gun. The extra few inches between the mag release and the trigger compared to the standard ak just feels too stretched. When I was shooting my unconverted Saiga, I felt like that the front foregrip was WAY out there. An AK lends itself to be held close up and tight to the body, the unconverted models feel too long in my hands even with the pistol grip style stocks.
dyi 0
If you are trying to create a SVD look alike, then this is actually the best stock to use:
Ballistician 1
I felt a fiberforce earlier this week and to be honest I didn't really like it. Looks like ironwood it is.
