Anyone tried a Tromix shorty with the drum on?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious how the Tromix Shorty feels with the MDArms drum attached. Is it hard/awkward to reach the short foregrip around the drum?

Jake

I have an 8" Red Jacket S-12 with a Tromix hand guard on it and it is hard to reach around the drum.

I ended up holding the bottom of the drum while shooting.

Are you kidding???!!!!

Dang.... that's a huge bummer (IMHO).

Kinda makes me want to reconsider a few things.....

Easy to reach around the drum on my S17...if you are hip shooting it. I put a green laser on the siderail and played with my Texas Star until I got the angles right (and could then turn off the laser). Unfortunately, a Texas Star only has 5 plates...good thing I have a row of spring loaded mini-IPSC poppers :D

Oh it still works and looks totally badass!

But it is hard to reach around.

But then there's always forward grips.

You know, this should probably be moved to the S-12 section since it is more of a drum and shorty shotty discussion....

its a little awkward but totally doable. and its fucking bad ass.

Agreed, there is some "reach-around' required, but doable.

But I have the long handguard on mine, so that may help. I'm still working on the VFG design.

I assume the Tromix folding stock can not fold closed while the MD Arms drum is attached... or can you?

Not that it matters, I fold it only for storage and transport, but I just ordered the MD Arms drum for my Tromix S17 so I'm looking for pro's and con's.

The Tromix stock folds to within about 30º of closing with an MD-20 inserted.
