Shannon McNair 1
Hi, I wonder if there is any ammo known to NOT work with the Saiga 12. I've heard something about Winchester Universal from Wally World, but am othertherwise lacking information. If we could get a list together and make it sticky, that would be great. Anyone have any specific ammo and/or general guidelines?
IndyArms 10,186
For the most part, a well broken in saiga will run it all, flawlessly! There is no "standard ammo to stay away from"... maybe an individual gun here or there wont like this or that... but it will by no means be the norm... just the rare exception. So, low recoil rounds and light loads and Winchester Target loads are all ok?
IndyArms 10,186
If your gun is broken in, and you are using the proper gas setting, yes... it should run them. If not... dont use them. simple as that. Mine runs the red wally world light target loads flawlessly... never ran any other low recoil stuff through it... recoil is already low enough... why bother...

bigdaddyrandall 1
I bought some rem. sts low recoil and tried to shoot it in my two new saiga 12's and it jammed about every round, with the setting set on two, so i had a gunsmith open up the gas ports and now it cycles that ammo fine, very quick fix, and not expensive. hope this helps you out.!!!!!!!!!!

Federal should cycle fine in a properly-working gun. Make sure you use gas setting 2.
Hershmeister 0
I really like the Rio Game Loads as they are 3.25 dram loads - gives you that little bit of extra bang to ensure a solid cycle every time. And they're pretty cheap - around 6 buck a box

patriot 7,197
Black powder loads. They're not good for gas guns.

FORKLIFT352 63
I would stay away from buffered loads. they will gum up the gas tube.

macbeau 902
Mine pukes on paper hulls. Aguilla's mini shells don't work too well either. Surprisingly, 2 1/2" Eley shells work just fine. Macbeau sends...
