Moving on from the 870 to the S12

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, New to the forums and Saiga. Been doing reading when I can and learning a lot from this community. I have a semi-tricked out remington 870 thats served me well for 3 years but now I'm looking for something more fun and something that looks as cool as the Saiga 12.

Like many, I am one of those last desperate people trying to get their hands on a Saiga 12 before BHO gets into office. I plan on ordering off of Gilberts Guns for $600 and like most people, I'm already thinking of getting it converted but my main concern is that I'm too late.

Ideally I would have bought this S12 instead of the 870 years ago and got on the Tromix train but looks like that not an option now. I know theres other companies still doing conversion services and I always have my guns professionally worked on so I'm wondering popularity wise, what company is the 2nd most desired/best selling conversion?

Basically, I have the $$$ and I'm looking for a professional shop that'll make my dream come true:

(what forend is that on this setup?)

Also if there is anyone in Texas (around the Houston/San Antonio/Austin) area that's selling a Converted/Stock S12, Message me please.

Thanks Yall

Cadiz is having a special right now...basic converted Saiga for $666. Trick the rest of it out as you can. Welcome! 870 is a great shotgun, but in a different class than the Saiga.

I just checked their vendor section and it looks to me like they've closed that sale already too...with no waiting lists?

man I'm too late on everything it seems lol

Honestly, with basic hand tools you can probably do a lot of the conversion yourself. Search around the forum, there are dozens of posts on converting your S12. If you have questions about your conversion, people here seem willing to lend a hand.

Here are some bookmarks I've been collecting for the last year or so.

Hey Guys,

Another Saiga "newbie" here. I'm getting discouraged at what seems to be an up hill battle to find the world best 3 Gun (my newest passion)shotgun.

Doing the work myself will not be an option so finding an exceptional shop will priorty number 2 right after finding out where to get one of these guns! Do any of you have any advice on where to buy and which base model would be best for 3 gunning?

Thanks!

Don't give up on getting on the "TROMIX train" just yet.................... Fat Lady may be in sight, but she ain't singing yet.

Much like the original poster, I am new to the saiga world. I moved from a 590. I bought two saiga 12 this week with the intention of stashing one away and using/modifying the other. I would love to have mine converted by TROMIX but I have no idea what the wait would be.

Can you give me an estimate of when I might be able to send in my saiga for conversion? :what:

There are probably some others, but here are all the places that I know of that do Saiga conversions.

Tromix

http://www.tromix.com/

E-Tac

http://www.ipscgun.com/

Red Jacket

http://www.redstick-firearms.com/

Krebs Custom

Here is the thread on the Tromix wait list.

Tromix has so many orders right now that they are booked through 2009 and 2010. From what I have heard the leadtime for getting a Saiga conversion done by Estaban over at E-Tac or Will Hayden over at Red Jacket is at least 9 months. Right now the smith with the shortest leadtime that I know of is Marc Krebs at Krebs Custom, whose website lists a 3-5 month leadtime, but of course you can only find out about lead times for sure by contacting the converters themselves.

Edited to add:

Oops, I forget about Cadiz Gun Works and Viking Kitty Armory, they also do Saiga conversions.

I don't think Cadiz Gun Works has a website yet, but their contact information (from their business member sub-forum) is:
