nalioth 405 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Share Posted December 21, 2008 The cartridges are cone shaped (roughly). To get 30 in a mag, it has to curve for feeding reliability. If you want straight magazines, get an M1 Carbine or a .308 Saiga. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

They won't feed,look at the taper,a magazine depends on the rounds beneath it to be pushed in in line with the bolt and into the chamber.It has to push evenly for the catridge to be oriented.A straight 7.62x39 magazine if you could get it to work at all would push the rounds to the top with the nose of the rounds pointing down at a 45 degree angle and not pointed toward the chamber at all,LOL Quote Link to post Share on other sites
