Dimples or no Dimples

Recommended Posts

How much magazine wobble is there with sure fire magazines and an undimpled receiver?

Magwell dimples have nothing to do with magazine wobble, or at least that's not what they were intended for. Dimples were added to receivers to add structural stability to them during full automatic fire and stressful use.

. . and to to continue with what AEnemaBay started:

ALL Kalashnikovs have mag wobble. Yes, you heard me correctly. ALL of them have it to some extent or other.

The mag wobble that you need to watch out for is the mag wobble that allows the mags to pivot enough that they block the bolt on the one extreme and cause the bolt to override the next cartridge at the other. This is usually caused by Century monkeys cutting too much away from the mag well when they are converting from the 10 round slimline magwell to a full size military mag well.

"Mag wobble" is very misunderstood, and dimples have bupkus to do with it.
