This is a first for me but as Pistonring8 observed I am irritated by someone who comes into the forum and attempts to lead others down the primrose path. All it would take is one or two "inspired" members or Saiga owners to act on his arguments and assertions to ruin it for hundreds of people. This is not a situation for platitudes but plain old common sense. I don't like self imposed restraints but wisdom dictates that we vastly improve our position before wrestling the giant. I'm done responding to the guy. I don't expect to change his thinking or personality. Early on in the thread we expressed the logic of our position but he chose to vehemently argue the issue sighting everyone from the forefathers to friggin Ann Rand. After his rant in a one liner he states he mostly agrees with our position. Why all the needless verbiage and bullshit attempting to display his superior intellect and recruit followers when he comes to concede. He came to hear himself talk. frankly nobody else wants to read mile long posts. The only reason they read these is because i made an issue of it and everybody likes the entertainment. That said, I'm done. Dump the thread if you want it matters little to me. Buy them, and buy them now. It is right to worry about Saigas being made D>D's, but worrying won't stop it from happening. Just as worrying won't stop an Assualt Weapons Ban again somewhere down the line. I know that I'm being a pessimist. But it's what I've learned in life. Being as the U.S.A is now my third home and my last hope. I feel blessed to live in a country where I can own firearms, and it my intention to acquire the fireams I want now rather then later. A-stan has a lot of natural beauty but its really hot and dusty in the summer, different dust, finer than IZ or Q8, like moon dust, 125 every day and no AC in the sleep tents when I was there. Everyone (military) worked 12 to 12 so everyone could get half a night's sleep while it was bearable in the tents. Even so, they have the "100 day wind" and everything is covered in dust, inside and out, even the green tents are tan. "Hey, these peaches didn't have cinnamon on them when they were served 10 minutes ago". I'm hoping to go back as a tourist in a few years if this shit ever settles down some, made a couple local friends there. Thanks for all you've done for us over there and stay safe! Its just kind of frustrating to me that there are about 200 million guns in the US owned by 90 million gun owners and how many owners could give a shit about their righs to write the leaders with their opinions? Probably a million? Maybe less? Just think if they could realize how effective it would be if even twice as many wrote. NRA has only 4 million members and look what they can do!! Same with GOA. Its getting worse, not better, despite a temporary lull due to disorganization on the left. But they'll be back and then, watch out! AWB weren't nothing, my friends. Good healthcare though! I have actually heard a Canadian beg for America to invade and annex thier beautiful country so that one day they may be able to own firearms. Austrailian gun ownership is almost non existant (by good guys). Do you know that a target shooter down under has to be escorted to and from the range? The firearm must be locked up securely in the home making it useless for home defence. And England... Well where to start? If the government outlaws guns, I will most certainly become an outlaw. Had this been his response to the thread at the point of his first posting things would not have gone South. Instead we got chest pounding and a Masters thesis extolling the virtues of vigilantly demanding and protecting our rights only to concede (in a single line saying I mostly agree with Bvamp) to what I and later Bvamp had already suggested much earlier in this thread. There have been other threads on the same issue and if he has been lurking around he should be aware of these as well. What NCShooter has missed is that while he is knowledgeable his attempt to "inform and inspire" the rest of us was an insult to our intelligence and just plain annoying (Ann Rand yada, yada, yada, 123, 123 adinfinitum). The whole thrust was to argue not to give way when you have the right. To resurrect the issue of drums again and pump up the troops on our absolute right is inviting one or more members to err in judgement and ruin things for all Saiga owners. Has he got the right......yeh!! And I got the right to call him on it. He knew what he was doing. The more he pushed to demonstrate his superiority and position the more pissed I got. I am familiar with his method of tearing at the fabric of argument line by line. It's very effective but I am not going to publish novels here to "come out on top". I don't care about that. It's not about me. It's not about him. It's not even about our rights. It's about all us recognizing the need to be practical rather than theoretical in an attempt to keep the Saigas coming. That is not to diminish the issue of our rights. That is just not the issue before us. And I could do without the novels too but that's just me. Read em if you enjoy em. I know that our country has some problems but compared to other places those are some strong words. Here is my story~~~ I was born in 1969 in Salisbury Rhodesia, in 1982 my entire (and I do mean entire) family fled to the Republic Of South Africa. Less my oldest brother who died fighting the communists in the Army. In 1987 I went into the South African Defense Forces as an infrantryman in the Capetown Rifles. Where I served in Southwest Africa (Namibia) fighting Communist Terrorists and "real brutal and repressive regimes". In 1990 my entire family again fled~ here to the United States~ We saw the writing on the wall so to speak~~ And being as Mugabe wanted my father to be extradited back to Zimbabe (Rightfully Rhodesia) where he had served as a Colour Sergeant in the R.A.R (Rhodesian African Rifles) we new we had no choice. I've been a citizen of the U.S since 1995 and a member of the Army National Gaurd since 1997. It is good to get worked up about situations it will keep us aware, and knowing the quotes of our forefathers is good and well, but sometimes it takes "Action More Then Words". And I can say that I would not trade this "brutal and repressive regime" for anyplace in the world. Unless we could go back in time to 1975 Rhodesia. Probably few appreciate the liberty found in this country more than people who have lived under real totalitarianism. I am with you on your view that things are less than perfect in the US and we have many issues and problems but it is still the best place in the world to live. There are a number of people in the US that hold the view that the government here is a "brutal and repressive regime". Most are extremists with some holding that the government has no authority over them and that they are not bound by the laws of the country. Still others advocate the violent overthrow of the government. While these folks are entitled to express their views as a part of their liberty some are willing to act on it and are downright dangerous. I am not sure any of these folks understand the chaos that would take place if there were no regulation, law, constraints and all was truely laissez-faire.
