535 0
Picked up a AMD 65 a few days back, one of the ones w/o the wire stock. It's a TGI. All I can say is that I fucking love this AK. It beats the hell out of the rest of my AK's. It's the smoothest shooting and has minimum recoil due to the muzzle break, just don't stand next to it. It also takes 30rd AK mags w/o issue. nalioth 405
That's actually an AMD-63. It is the infantry model predecessor of the AMD-65 (which was made for armored vehicle / aircraft crewmen to use). The AMD-63 is a rarer rifle here and IMHO, the better of the two (but than, I just don't care for folding wire stocks on AKs).
535 0
63, 65, same gun different stock. But honestly, I didn't know there was a difference.. So was $475 NIB a good deal? Edited March 9, 2009 by

PRISONSHANK 70
thats a damn fine lookin AMD there, i'm not usually a fan of em due to the wire stock like Nalioth said. but it looks good with the blond stock looks like a smooth shooter too.

Killer deal, congrats!! They had very similar ones on J&G for around $500-$600ish a couple months ago, seems like no one has them at all anymore.

I've always seen it represented here as the AMD-63. The pictured rifle isn't exactly an AKM-63, either, as it appears somebody just took a AMD-65 frontend and stuck a AKM-63 furniture set on it. 535 0
Whatever it is, it's now my favorite AK out of the few that I own.
vbrtrmn 167
Actually, I just checked J&G, they have more in stock now, for $730, so $475 was a steal. http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/p/...roducts_id/3180
whitetrashrn 74
I like them both ways. Solid stock or folding. Shooting any AK type is fun.
MD_Willington 11
They are cool, I checked out a bunch at ultimak, I thought about setting up my Saiga like an amd.
Agias 0
That's actually an AMD-63. That's actually an AKM-63. The only reason they're referred to as AMD is importer stupidity. The D in AMD refers to "Desszantos", descent, paratrooper. Obviously the AKM-63 is nothing close to a paratrooper weapon. 63, 65, same gun different stock. Wrong. The AMD has a short barrel, muzzle break, short gas tube.

It's an AMD-65 front end with the furniture from an AKM-63 attached. Guess we can call it "AMD-63" or "Bubba". This is an AKM-65.
komblockid 0
Hey as long as it shoots I'm all for it. Good looking gun!
patriot 7,197
You NEED to get the AMD-65 brake installed! Loud as hell! ....and great at fireballs too!

Still, what i said applies to correct hungarian rifles/kits/clones whatever.
