Saiga .308 Urban Mirage Camo

Recommended Posts

I agree!! Actually that pattern is kinda hard to keep your eye on...I guess it works.

How much did the paint job cost? If you don't mind my asking? I've seen guys at the local Gun show doing that, or similar, for $125 - $175.

Also, I agree..Freddy's Ready

I bought the kit from Lauer Weaponry for about $100 which included paint and stensils. The project was very time consuming due to the multiple colors. I have a small paint spayer and had to clean it well after each coat. Last coat was a clear coat. It cost me $65 to have it blasted so the project wasn't cheap. Lauer charges about $300 for this type of camo.

Ack! If there were an equivalent to the DCF, for guns, I would soooo be reporting you! :haha:

Sorry, can't stand the digital cammo. You did do a very impressive job on it though. My hat is off to you, regarding you painting skills and patience.

If only you would use your powers for Good, not Evil..... ; )

:lolol:

Ok, that's it. No more posting in the middle of the night for me. It's like 3:47 am here.

Ya I admire your skill on that paint job. I just dont understand why waste the money on that. Personally I would never do that to my gun, but to each his own.

What made you wanna do that?

I'd rather get a ar-15 stock, but whatever.

Thanx guys...for the compliments.

To answer your questions:

For the clearcoat, I used the DuraCoat Clearcoat from Lauers.

Did not do the one(1) magazine I have because I'm waiting for the 20 rd mags to be available and will do those as well.

The reason I did it to my Saiga .308 was the cost of this rifle new. Only paid $290 for the rifle so I figured I could play around with it. Always liked this urban mirage camo look so I just did it. Worst comes to worst, I can redo it back to just black.

Already got all the AR stocks I need.

I would highly recommend the DuraCoat black, though. I used black for the base and this stuff is tuff.

Thanx everyone!

Nice work, hey did you phosphate the gun before the paint with LCW?

By the way get airbrushes cheap from harbor freight, they are ok, use them a

lot especially with LCW. the one for 9.99 does a good job on general paintwork

and is cheap enough to be throwing away if the LCW gets hard on it.

The one air brush for 19.99 is pretty good, gives a run for the money to

my paasche, iwata and testors aztecks

just type air brush

For airbrush containers I got this from bear air, they are good and work on

harbor freight airbrushes, the ones for 2.89
