Azrial 1,091
That really is an interesting handguard, but I do not understand how it is a "rail?" Are there optional parts that are not shown?

Cobra 76 two 2,677
I can vouch for the high quality of this HG. It's very solid and easy to install. It's also made by a forum member and contributor. The one pictured above is slightly different than the one I have, but I'm assuming it has optional means to add rails to it. Mine has horizontal slits in both sides, and along the bottom for mounting T Nuts that you can attach rails to. I'm actually doing that right now in the shop so I'll post pics when I'm done. For now though....here's a few pics showing the bottom rail I added, and the slots on the side still open.... I'm adding a rail to the Rt side now and have mounted a sling loop to the L side unil I can get a rail mounted sling loop, then I'll put the other rail there. It makes a mean tri rail and looks great with my COBRA top rail, going the length of the gas tube and joining the one on my dust cover...

gtnichols 51
  Hey, that looks familiar,.. EDIT TO ADD: it is an awesome, rock solid fore grip that fits your hand in any position you hold the shotgun, Has a rail mount slot at the bottom, and I suppose you can mount rails anywhere with the right hardware. HEEM 0
I also wondered how the handguard worked as a rail. NOW I'm getting excited. This is a great website! "Too weird to live, too rare to die"- Hunter S. Thompson

"Too weird to live, too rare to die"- Hunter S. Thompson There are special nuts that accompany the guard (2) which will allow one to add a rail of their choice or purchase rails from MAA that have those nuts included in the package. Here is a pic of an unfinished guard with a rail installed. On all guards there is a mount position at 6 o'clock and on most there are mount positions at 3 and 9 as well. I really like the overall design no matter what configuration they are in. The folks at MAA should have some new ones soon as well. diamondback 56
Question: is it possible to mount a Fuglystick top-rail to hang over the receiver like an extended-rail, with just the front 2" holding it to the handguard? Or are there plans for a longer top-rail in the pipeline?
jaymce 7
Question: is it possible to mount a Fuglystick top-rail to hang over the receiver like an extended-rail, with just the front 2" holding it to the handguard? Or are there plans for a longer top-rail in the pipeline? Not 100% clear on the question but I will try and answer to the best of my ability what I think you are asking. I do not currently offer a top rail. MAA does however offer many choices for a top rail as well as other quad rails. The round nature of the guard makes it harder to mount something that can attach to the guard an encompasses the gas system. There are gas tube rails and cover rails that could be used with the guard with out interference. If you needed additional clearance for one of those rails I can accommodate that with a custom guard with wider clearance around the gas tube. The rails are fairly sturdy but I have not cantilevered one off the end of a guard yet and checked the strength. There are plans to make a long rail segment (24+ inches for optics) at some point in the future. Truthfully I am working on a few other projects right now and the rail project has been put on the back burner. I do not have CNC capabilities so the fabrication of a rail segment the length needed would be very time consuming and difficult for me to produce. Most shops with CNC want so much in the Northeast (due to the cost of living) that one off parts like this are very expensive to produce even in this economy. Hope that helps or if you have more questions please ask.
diamondback 56
Actually, it helped a great deal, thanks. Understandable on the back-burner--better to focus on where one can get results quickly, then use those as a springboard to get to the Next Big Thing from.
grahamtabor 0
I love the look of the Fuglystick. It looks like it extends beyond the end of the gas tube, is the gas adjuster plug still easily removable or does the Fuglystick need to be removed first?
jaymce 7
The guard extends a little past the end of the gas tube. The front is open however and with little additional effort and clean threads the adjuster is easily moved.
Zombiehunter762 376
I have a RJF 8" S-12. I like this Handgaurd. But I don't see a 8" or 9" version of it. Do you make one to fit a 8" S-12 SBS or would I have to modify it by cutting it down to the proper size? Thanks for any suggestions or help.
