Funny. I just wish I knew what the injoke was in this song.

 

There isn't really any in-joke. Its just a song about a made-up larger than life character, but instead of completely making up the name and person the song is about, like say Jim Croce did with his songs "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" and "You don't mess around with Jim", Weird Al used the name of an actual person, an actor who was well known during the 60s and 70s. Of course I don't know specifically why Weird Al decided to use Charles Nelson Reilly. If you wanted to know that you would have to ask Weird Al.
