Darth AkSarBen 20
While searching for a time of the History Channel piece on Kalashnikov, I stumbled across these links about the German Sports Guns maker and Kalashnikov signing up a deal to make it in a .22 LR caliber rifle: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2008/01...is-famous-name/ Pictures of the rifle made by GSG and imported by ATI here: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/05...nikov-22-ak-47/ and here: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2008/10...kalashnikov-ak/ So, looks like there might be a new player in the AK style in .22 LR, which, if the same designs are applied, would make for a very reliable .22 rifle. MD_Willington 11
GSG is an airsoft company.. the make the GSG-5 its kind of neat MK gives the GSG AK the thumbs up... Now someone needs to import the Saiga .22 AK... The Saiga .22 AK is probably better than the airsoft AK .
vbrtrmn 167
The GSG is a really cool little gun, I have a buddy who has one and loves it; I fired one at the NRA range late last year and had a good time. Though I have read some problems, I don't know how much truth there is to this thread, just passing on the info. In my unprofessional opinion, the pictures posted look like the weapons were abused, but that's just me. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=373057 Other stuff.. Darth AkSarBen 20
Not sure about the Airsoft, but German Sport Guns have been making and exporting to the U.S. a neat little MP-5 clone that shoots .22 long rifle. Buds Gun Shop has one for sale. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product...oducts_id/55260 I have seen and handled these rifles over at On Target in Kalamazoo, and would not mind getting one. The .22LR in a Kalashnikov AK-47 style would be intersting to see. Cheap shooting too!

I love shooting my GSG-5, but reliability is an issue. Although the people at ATI are absolutely great. My GSG-5 is actually in the gun safe waiting for me to fix a cycling problem that happened again from shooting it yesterday (probably need to put some locktite in a few key places, since this is the 2nd time this has happened). Particularly if you'll make one for the 5.45x39mm saigas....I'll need somthing to do with it once all the 5.45 is gone. Furthermore, the GSG AK is only a lookalike and really it looks as much like an AK as an Armscor AK.22 looks, i.e. not much. Not an impressive gun. Would wait for a real AK reciever'd gun like the WASR 22, or a conversion as mentioned above.

I'd LOVE a Saiga 223 22lr conversion that uses the BDM AR mags
PinkFloyd 63
GSG's not an airsoft company... some of their accessories are from airsoft gun manufactures like Classic Army and ICS, but their actual guns are built to good specs. I've got one of their Mp5k's that I use as a plinker and if it's any indication of their quality, their Ak should be a pretty great little gun. Actually, GSG's are ridiculously accurate for what they are, but I think they'd make great run and gun weapons if you're training for using your primary weapon system with cheap ammo. If I had an AR, I'd just get a CMMG .22LR bolt, but to my knowledge there is no such thing for the Ak system, so you'd be well advised to use one of these for training, which will pay BIG dividends when you need to use your 762 or 223 Ak for real. That's kinda how I use my Mp5k.
Darth AkSarBen 20
I handled a Kalashnikov .22 by GSG this evening over at On Target in Kalamazoo. It was nicely done, except for the wood. Now that said, it's probably authentic in that regards as I guess most AK-47s were cheap cheap wood, even pallet boards I'm told. The PG was a bit small, but figured was good for a woman or juvenile for shooting. Price is definitely adult. Over 500 bucks. But the overall metal machining and finish were very good. Now, if it is as accurate and reliable as the GSG MP-5 That will be very nice. Even though it is $500 +, your savings come in the form of .22 LR ammo that you can eat up all day long at shooting and not break the bank.
