Saiga 100 Stock vs 7.62 Interchagebility

Recommended Posts

Question all, can I switch a Model 100 stock for the one that comes "stock" on the 7.63 Sporter? Since I live in the PRC, where all rifles are basically evil, I can't do the conversions shown here "legally". By adding a pistol grip and collapsible stock, my mild mannered Saiga becomes an evil ogre...... So to get more of a "pistol grip'ish" feature like the 100, I was thinking of trying a swap. Besides "...don't waste you time", or "...move to another state", any advice?

Thanks!

I Dont Think The Stock Will Interchange Seeing As How A Saiga-100 Has A Completley Different Design All Together! So Yeah, Probably Not....

DG16,

I just got a reply from Clyde at RAA, the receiver on the 100 is slanted, the 7.62 isn't, so No Joy. I asked if the 100 stock could be modified to fit, and as yet, haven't received an answer back. I'd make the determination myself, but I haven't seen a 100 in any of the gun stores around me. Heck, I was lucky to get a 7.62 OTC. (My favorite FFL said there's a 1 to 2 month backorder on um.)

A guy like me in Calif. needs to have some fun tinkering with his new toy..... Damnitanyways.........

You can legally do pistol grip conversions in California, you just have to go fixed magazine, which means bullet button mag release or otherwise require a tool to remove the magazine. Collapsible stock also requires fixed magazine, and you still have to have an overall length of 30", so measure the rifle first if you go collapsible. If you go collapsible you can try permanently installing a flash hider to add a bit of extra length, going with the longer barrel version of the x39 Saiga, padding the end of the collapsible stock to get you to 30", or pinning the collapsible stock so it can't go to its absolute shortest position.
