Basically Izmash can't pay their bills and is filing for Bankruptcy.

I wonder what this will do to Saigas and the Saiga market.

I think no matter what happens we have seen the rock bottom low of Saiga prices and Conversions. If Izmash stops producing them or Obama admin tinkers with 922r there will be less supply of basic guns and conversions. I think anybody who remotely wants one should get it now. I just cant see how they will ever be cheaper or even possiblly available in future. About the domestic production of S12 idea, it might work if feds allow it, but it's got to be more expensive than the russian price now.

Like I said if you want one, get it now. I recently ordered a rifle conversion after purchasing the basic gun and am glad I did.

I think a number of suppliers domestically have "stocked up" but that cant last long.

Russia is the birthplace of businesses that are "too big to fail". Izhmash will continue to exist in one way or another, mark my words. You know since the massive order the US made of Izhmash to arm the afghan government, and we know they can't get Saiga's in-country quickly enough, I wonder where all their money is going?

This type of thinking and posting is what leads to every one freaking out, causing panic buying and prices to go up unnecessarily , unless you have proof that izmash will stop producing them or obama will tinker with 922, keep the fear mongering/FUD at a minimum.

I dont know about freaking out, but Pravda article says they stopped production. Any body know if this is confirmed?

And individuals have no control of pricing but I stand by my prediction that I think we have seen the low of prices.

About Motopolitico's comment,"too big too fail in Russia", who would have thought the world's largest Auto maker would go bankrupt or that the US would no longer own a domestic beer producer or world's largest banks would all need huge bailouts. I think too big to fail no longer applies in this world. Russia is notorious for recent really screwy business practices, so who knows?

i don't have "proof" but if you read the article it said...

"It is worthy of note that the production at Molotov Works, a part of Izhmash Concern and the maker of the renowned Kalashnikov assault rifle, was stopped not so long ago, news agencies said. The production was stopped due to the absence of the state order: the company has no money to pay salaries to employees and return debts to creditors."

wouldn't hurt to pick up 5 or 6 extras just in case. :killer:
