looking for a Saiga 12 in California

Hi I am a new member joining today and waiting for the confirmation email,but I have a question-I am looking for a Saiga 12 gauge and live in Kalifornia(hope to move later this year). I have talked to dealers and distributors and cannot get a clear answer on getting one-some say I can,some say i cannot.I figure there are some lurking around in this state in private hands.I am looking for that person and have a ffl dealer who will do the transfer if I can find one.Anyone know anyone with an extra one?

By the way the new proposed ban to replace the 1994 one(do a web search) will add the M1 carbine,M1 Garand,M1A,Ruger Mini14,Remington Semi auto and pump HUNTING rifles,Browning BAR Hunting rifles,Pump Action AK's(funky but actually shoot well-I have one),and will ban any semi auto or pump action that posesses,according to the wording-'a pistol grip that protrudes below the rifle or shotgun OR ANY OTHER ITEM THAT WOULD FUNCTION AS A GRIP-i.e. your regular rifle and shotgun stock!?!?!?!?

SAIGAS are illegal in california dude, but.... i see them all the time here, so go to arizona and buy a couple.

Yea I wish it was that easy! I f I could I would! Buying a rifle out of your 'home' state is illegal also-but I am going to at least get some property and small cabin SOMEWHERE in another 'friendly' state. Then I should be able to buy more of what I want.

are all semi auto shotguns illegal in cal.? or just the siaga? the shotgun news has them listed as low as $199 i know that dont mean you can order them but....

The Saiga is banned for 2 reasons- 1. It has the dreaded 'preferred by gang members' AK action(banned in itself-but I can buy pump action AK's and they can be converted to semi-I did not say that!) and 2. Any semi auto shotgun that uses a detachable mag is banned. Pumps are ok with 8round tubes,folding stocks,etc unless it is -folding stock ok but not folding stock AND 8 round tube-I need to recheck. IF I could get a Saiga I would -shudder- change it to a pump(not hard to do) and when I move somewhere else,change it back. Here is the rub- technically I COULD register a Saiga here because the paperwork /info sent to the D.O. Injustice does NOT list the name,action,etc of a long gun- just says 'long gun' so I WOULD be legal in the strict sense of registration. The state leaves it up to the FFL dealers to police these things-If you and I wanted to transfer an 'AW' between us-the dealer would refuse and call the cops. MY ASS BURNS AT THE MENTION OF THIS CRAP!!!!! FUCK THESE LIBERAL P.O.S.'s If you even smell a COMMIEFORNIA politician in your state GET RID OF THEM. What I cannot figure out is-this used to be a republican state! See what hippies,liberals,slack immigration laws,worthless lawyers and judges and CORRUPT LYING POLITICIANS do to a state!? GOD I want to move!!!! Here is one for you guys to give me feedback on-I have the opportunity to buy a russian shotgun called a BAIKAL IZH81 pump that uses a detach mag of 5 rds. hi guys. found this thread looking for info on the saiga rifles mysel. i thought i would share with you what ive found out mysel.

 

YES, there IS a saiga rifle thats banned here in KommieFornia, but its NOT the one your thinking about. its the kalishkniv ( not spelled right) hunter/saiga.

 

i PERSONALLY called the Deartment of Justice's Firearms Division this am, about 5 min. ago ( 8:40 am pacific) and spoke to a guy there named "Dana" ( at 916-263-4887) about this. he told me that ig the gun is not SPECIFICALLY NAMED, it is LEGAL to own as long as it didnt have the 2 'EVIL" features on it ( I.E., bayo lug,pistol grip,ect,ect,ect)

 

i am a gun dealer, and i had a customer call me yesterday about these guns prompting me to check into it. i read somewere sometime back that if you already OWNED one of these, it was ok, but they can no longer be brought into the state of california, he ("Dana") didnt know anything about this. he told me as i stated that if it has the monte carlo style stock,ect, as long as its not the kailshnikov "hunter saiga" it was legal.

 

we have so many BS gun laws here, its really difficult to know whats what without calling them yourself, or writing them an email ( which would most likely be best as if they say its legal in there opinion, if you get whacked by the police ect, you can at least have this to show the cops/judge)

 

check into it. im sure if you can find one via private party sale, its legal.
