Vultite 57
Thinking about doing a integral suppressed 9mm AR like the AM169 from Anvil Arms, anyone used a setup like this before?? do you get slammed with a SBR AND Silencer tax stamp for this product? I personally have not used one but I have a premium account at Silencer Research dot com and according to Mr. Titsworth they can be some of the most quiet set-ups you can get. For question #2, yes you "could" get hit with a 2 stamp set-up. If the suppressor tube is under 16" then you would have to have a lower receiver that is a SBR. 1 stamp for the suppressor & 1 stamp for the SBR lower. If you get a 16" tube for the integral then you may put it on a standard lower and only pay 1 stamp. Clear as mud?

I assume then that the 2 tax stamp situation would also apply to the integrally suppressed Stens and Sterlings out there as well. I wonder if they would process the forms at the same time given its the same firearm or not? Edited December 20, 2009 by 690gr

I assume your talking suppressed "machine-gun" Stens or Sterlings....right OK, so depending on your examiner they may or may not process this as the same time. How they could approve the MG but not the suppressor when the suppressor is fixed to the barrel and the barrel fixed to the receiver I dont know. Unlike a AR15/M16 host where the upper's are simply attached via 2 push pins. The suppressor tube in it's own right is a seperate entity regardless of the host weapon. Just fyi...I sent in three Form 4's in the same envelope and they all went pending and were approved on the same days...so one would imagine that a integrally suppressed MG on 2 Form 4's would get the same treatment...but again were talking about goober'ment employee's. Shandlanos 1,470
If you have any other weapon in 9mm you might want to suppress, or you want the option of putting whatever upper you want with whatever barrel length you feel like on your lower, your best bet would be to pay both taxes and get a registered SBR lower and a Gemtech Talon upper with a Gemtech multimount suppressor. That way you've got a kickass, dead-quiet SBR with a can that can be used on a bunch of different weapons. Win-win!
stiletto raggio 20
While detachable suppressors are more effective, the fact that they are limited to one gun is sort of a deal-breaker for me. I want to get a suppressor, maybe even a few, but I guarantee the first several will all be detachable. If you want a super-short suppressed carbine, I recommend saiting for the MSAR carbine and putting a traditional suppressor on it.
Vultite 57
I think i'm gonna end up getting a shorty 9mm AR and get the seperate 9mm can so I can switch it off the rifle to swap it to a pistol if I want. Thanks for the input guys
