Surefire 308 Muzzle Brake Instructions

Recommended Posts

Confirm a minimum of 3/16" (4.7mm) exists between the sight and the end of the firearm barrel. If the less than 3/16", brake will not work on your gun.

Step #1

Make Sure Fiream is unloaded.

Step #2

Remove small bracket (d) from the top of the brake.

Step #3

Slide adapter over the end of the barrel until sight post goes completely forward into the slot. Some minor fitting may be required. On mine, I tapped four times with a rubber mallet.

Step #4

Slide Spacer into gap between bottom of barrel and brake making sure tab lines up with hole prior to pushing space forward until tab snaps into the hole in brake.

Step #5

Install bracket (d) insert into position on top of barrel using 4 allen screws. Torque down as tight as possible.

Nathan,

Is the critical dimension at the TDC - 12 O'clock position from the end of the barrel to the sight tower?

On my Feb 2009 made .308, from the end of the barrel to the ridge of the FSB at the 3 and 9 O'clock positions is exactly 1/4 inch.

But there is a slope of metal from the face of the sight tower down to the barrel at the TDC point that reduces the distance to ~ 3/16th inch exactly.

Do you think I'm good-to-go?
