jimdigriz 580
The notches in the side of the barrel are possible indications of a factory threaded barrel, at least for the 7.62x39 model. I'm trying to figure out whether they are standard on the 5.45, or whether only some have them. If the latter, possibly some of the 5.45s will have the factory threading too. See this post for a pic example: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=48234&view=findpost&p=446889
gunguy98 5
I've done three conversions so far, all have had the lower retainer slots, two with dimples one without and non have had a threaded barrel. My latest conversion is an '09 5.45x39 The notches in the side of the barrel are possible indications of a factory threaded barrel, at least for the 7.62x39 model. kolya 0
The threads for 5.45x39 rifles are found on the FSB, not the barrel, as far as I know... so I don't think you'll be seeing any factory-threaded 5.45x39 barrels. Bucky G 4
mine was notched for the LHGR I heard some are threaded under the FSB, I'll be cutting mine off soon and I'll let you know
Krom 36
Yep, mine is notched.
Cobra 76 two 2,677
Mine was notched on the sides but I had to cut my own notch in the top for the cam lock. Barrel wasn't threaded either but I replaced the whole FSB with a threaded one anyway.

Mak 3
Both of my 5.45x39 rifles ordered from Classic had barrel notches
essohbe 47
Mine had the side grooves but not any top notch for the cam thing. I made my own LHR though and notched the barrel myself. Wasn't threaded either.
rob-cubed 74
Mine had the side grooves but not the barrel notch, which was fine because I got to fit the HG myself. A chainsaw grinding stone did real nice. Haven't cut the shroud off yet, so can't report on threads.
