The Saiga 7.62x39 has the following parts from the list of 20 that count toward compliance:

Receiver

trunion

barrel

bolt

bolt carrier

gas piston

trigger

hammer

disconnector

buttstock

handguard

magazine body

magazine follower

magazine floorplate

You have to reduce the number or foreign parts to 10 or less to legally use high cap magazines.

and DO NOT worry about what your father says...  hes looking out for you... but hes not accurate....  you have nothing to worry about if you convert your rifle with legal USA made parts...

If you're really worried about it, try printing out a copy of the ATF letter clarifying the legality. I'm not sure where it is right now, but it's posted several places on this board.

An even better idea would be to look through the 26 pages of Saiga 7.62x39 topics already covered by the individuals who have all gone through the same processes. There is a wealth of information all through the archived topics, everything from feedramps to conversions, and from odd modifications to outright mistakes and bad ideas are posted for all to see and learn from.
