reb1861 14
I was watching rambo first blood on tv and I allways think about what would hapen if a special forces member became unstable from whatever. How much damage can he do?Iam not putting our boys down at all I thank them for thir service to us all, butt someone can snap at the wrong time.Thir training makes them very dangerous to law enforcement or you if it was used in a wrong matter.Iam thinking of a what if it did hapen? I think Janet Napolitano wonders the same thing... Personally, I think she should focus on Al Quaeda, and other sworn enemies rather than those who are trained to defeat them, and defend our freedom... but what do I know? janusthephoenix 24
Being a professional warrior like our nation's special forces is kind of like being an Olympic athlete. You don't have a very long shelf life and you're largely ignored and neglected after you are past your usefulness. But while you are in your prime, you are absolutely the BEST at what you do, you're a motherfucking star. You get your few years of glory, then it's pretty much over. /philosophical rant

mgconnor13 206
Cops aren't soldiers. They aren't trained to be. Soldiers drive on and continue assaults even while casualties pile up. Law enforcement gets bogged down my mere suppressive fire. I think an infantry man could give any PD a good run for their money most day.
Juggernaut 11,054
Bullshit topic IMO...... We have the most professional fighting force on the planet.... SF are made to go through some serious mental/Psychological evaluation.... even if they can cut it physicaly... if you are a nut job... no training for you..... But, I will admit that the only solders to completely lose it were Islamic Fascist.....
reb1861 14
Not realy a bullshit topic. Its a what if. someone comes home from combat and snaps. His home is tooken away by the bank,Gets laid off work what ever.someone trained in spec warfare and cant shut it off. Ruffian72 548
You don't have to be military trained to do a lot of damage. Do get your point. Have had all aspects of society (snap). Sad part, Governments intentional actions/policies have caused more deaths than all civilian criminals. Communist/Socialists regimes are the largest mass murders. Over 100 million and counting last century.

But, I will admit that the only solders to completely lose it were Islamic Fascist..... Agreed. You have NO CLUE the amount of Psychological evaluation that goes into choosing whether or not these men get to become SF. There are actually alot of men that can do it physically and get canned because of the psychological tests. Most extreme SF are taught that even under HIGH AMOUNTS OF STRESS (aka losing your house/wife/dog/left nut isn't shit when you've been in a situation where you were pretty sure you were dead) they are to remain calm and analyze the situation and then react, instead of giving into there emotions. but yes if one did snap, I'm sure you'd see it in the news papers, and yes I'm sure everyone on there list of people to hate would be dead.
swells08 128
My mom when in the service in the early 70's had the job of working with military mental health programs to de-bug some special forces running ops in Vietnam...she says they spent weeks de-programming kill switches and using role playing to reverse some of the instincts they picked up. She says Rambo could easily happen if just about any well trained serviceman wanted to. Our local law enforcement is getting better training for these situations although if you live in the sticks it would be easy to raise hell.

This is why you shouldnt act like the aHole cop in the movie, if you respect everyone around you and treat them as you would want to be treated, you dont have to worry what is behind the mask. One thing I like to go by, allways remember, you dont know who anyone is past their outward appearance, dont treat them like shit unless they brought it on themselves. one thing this world has lost, respect.

akastormi 617
I know one. He's an "Oh shit" big SOB and SF. Passed his prime at 44 and was released. Lost his job, wife took off, haven't seen him in months. No one has or even heard from him. Rumor has it he's back in Afgan. I personally would say Domin Repub, he always like that place. This is a guy that asked me to look at his FS Ford Bronco, he had a rattle in the back. When I got in I found a box that had broke open, a box of 1000 Rds of 9mm! Him -" Hmmm, forgot about that, you want it?" Never seen him wear anything but BDU pants, either black or tan. I'm crazy, he is NUTS.

ktcm7271 999
Something similar is already happening. Gang bangers are joining the military, learning tactics, and teaching their gangs when they get out. I saw footage of a guy with an ak in a parking lot shoot out with L.E. He was "slicing the pie" and lateral moving, constantly gaining ground on the cops. It's becoming a pretty big issue in the services with unemployment so high.

If anything, the services should have an easier time screening out gangbangers with so many more suitable candidates out of work.
ChileRelleno 7,071
Fucking eh, lets look at this scenario seriously. A single man, with significant training, can wreak murder & mayhem. Special forces, shit, look one lone marine can do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Whitman
