after market Srew-in chokes installed

Recommended Posts

:unsure: What if any after market chokes are available to be installed in the saiga 12 gauge bbl. I am talking about a gunsmith doing the work and want to know if the bore diameter and barrel wall are efficient for our USA chokes. :rolleyes:

:ph34r: I have a desire to get rid of my current saiga screw-on chokes and have Winchester or remington Screw-in chokes installed, so that I can have a shorter modified barrel with opitons.

I could even install a Pattern Master choke and get super tight patterns with buck shot and recoil reduction with the chokes outer ports. :eek:

So help me out here, cost is not a matter, functional reliability is a must! :killer:

:lolol::killer::haha:

i had a local smith put a turkey choke on my saiga 12. you shouldnt have a problem, and if you have any good shops local to you, they should be able to hook you up just fine. i think it might even be legal for you to go to a machinist there, actually. the tap is really whats gotta be right. i shoot high brass a lot out of the saiga because of the lessened recoil, and i have zero problems with it. i would guess maybe 1200 rounds have been sent through that gun? maybe more? i started with a 22" barrel and its cut down to 18.5", choke sticks out about an inch on mine, with the porting. this extra inch from the ported chokes out there is NOT- i repeat -NOT part of your barrel length as far as ATF is concerned. hope that helps.

actually, my work was done on the barter system. :) i would guess it would be a bill tho, not much. i should call the guy up, i need to know what type of threading i actually have now. i think im using winchester threading now. i pretty much have this gun the way i like it now, so if i want anything else done to it, ill just get another saiga and start fresh :) they sure are priced right.
