Internal receiver block and pig-nose adapter

Recommended Posts

I have a couple questions about these products..........

http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-170/ACE-CAR15-SAIGA-AK47/Detail

1) The above linked internal adapter is the same price as the similar looking DPH one, but this one has the extra mounting holes/screws. Everything else looks identical. Any other differences between it, and the DPH that I should know about? I'm leaning toward the one linked above, over the DPH, simply for the extra screws. The sturdier, the better. Have you heard of anyone installing their adapter, only to found that the side mounting holes don't line up? Figuring in the drunken Russian variances in Saigas, it's something that crossed my mind. I don't really want to have to start shaving into the adapter to get it to fit.

2) Both adapters say "Designed with a 3 degree corrected stock angle so the stock is straight with the barrel, not angled down."...................but don't you want to have an angled down stock, like a regular AK stock, if you're running iron sights? Doesn't the stock being straight with the barrel interfere with cheek-weld when using iron sights?

3) For the Ace pig-nose, it says "Threaded for your CAR Commercial buffer tube."...............but commercial and mil-spec tubes have the same thread size, so what's with the disclaimer? For example, the threads on an AR lower will accept both a commercial tube and mil-spec tube. So will the pig-nose accept a mil-spec tube?

4) The two linked products above is all that is needed to mount an AR stock onto an AK, correct? I'm not missing anything?

5) Do you (or anyone reading this) have any pics of the above combination of parts installed?

Lot's of questions, I know. Sorry. :angel::D

Slug-o just put a pignose adapter on his Tromix today(welded back plate)and I am pretty sure you just need the adapter, receiver extension, nut and stock.I am suppose to pick up my pignose for my tromix later this week from him.

As for the commercial Vs milspec they both should work. All AR lowers are threaded that same.It is the diameter of the receiver extension after the threads that determines if they are milspec or commercial with the commercial being a larger OD.

hope this helps.

2 different companies make them and they are both quality products. I have not had any that I have sold not line up with the holes. The screws used are 8/32 which are smaller than the holes to allow for the russians variance in quality control.

The 3 degrees does not interfer with the sight picture.

The threads on the Pig nose fit both Mil-spec and Commercial tubes.

Both products together will allow you to mount a CAR tube, most will have some type of nut with the tube.

Slug-O is using the pignose with his welded on Tromix back plate setup and it looks awesome. The internal block will look the same.

Perfect. Thanks for all the info, guys. You answered everything I need to know. Much appreciated.

EDIT: One last question: Does this.... http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-172/ACE-AR15-SAIGA-AK47/Detail?sfs=e85c5d56 ....work with the Tromix DIY trigger guard?

You may to remove a little plastic to get it to sit flush. It's easy to do.
