My poly-choke doesn't seem to choke...

I tried Xtra-full Open and Xtra-full choke at 10 yards had the exact same results. Both targets were identical. Both spread the shot into an approximate 20 inch circle, which seems way to large for 10 yards. I repeated this with both #8 shot and #5 shot. Any ideas, or is this choke just crap?

when you have it installed on the gun and tighten it down all the way what setting is it at?

 

How much have you shot with this choke?

 

Do you often use steel shot?

I'll have to put it back on and check. Got frustrated with it and took it off. First time with it. I've never used steel shot.

Put it on your gun and crank the collar all the way down then back it out to the setting you want. Let me know if that helps.

I found mine would not tighten to extra full choke at first and had to break in to achieve that. And as stated tightened all the way down should be your tightest setting, and loosening it will widen the pattern.

Crank it down all the way tight and back off to the first click, or if it cranks down to a click, leave it there.

Then get some calipers and measure the constricted the opening and post it, that way we can verify the amount of choke. I can really see the difference at about 15 to 20 yards with mine.
