Recoil Reduction

Recommended Posts

Was really getting the ^%$$& kicked out of me with my 16" Saiga 308.

Was surprised how much more "kick" than my 22" 308 units...

All of them have the T-6 style stock, so.....

I got Cobra to do his "special tube" modification for my T-6 Stock on this one.

Made a GREAT DIFFERENCE in the recoil and being able to stay on target between shots. :lolol:

I had already tried a "recoil spring" setup, but it didn't really make much difference.

Thanks Cobra, for the product and the conversion!!! :smoke:

There is always the debate on these if the mercury being "pushed" forward then back in the tube is that much more effective than just an equivalent weight of lead shot in a sock. I know there must be some improvement over the static weight but how much? Seen any detailed tests done on it?

You are dead on with that T6 stock it seems practically made for this but then I have to find somewhere else to store those emergency "supplies" I keep in that tube now.

There are three tried and true ways to reduce recoil in a long gun--mercury tube, recoil pad, and muzzle brake.

The man is right. I have play with a lot of muzzle brakes and some work and some don't. One thing the more working pressures

you have on a gun the better the brake will work if you get a brake that works. But the gun will be loud as hell and people next to you

will get a nice blast.

On the other hand a good mercury tube can work good too, That is if you have a place to install it on the butt stock.

Or install a recoil pad that will help you.

You can try all 3 or any too see how things work.

Yes installing more weight cant work, but how much and can you handle a gun that weights a ton.

I guess you meant that you installed an AR buffer & spring backwards in the AR tube the stock was on?

I was thining of doing that, but w/ an H3 buffer, or maybe a rifle buffer. I don't imagin it would do much w/ the starndard carbine buffer. It might also be useful to experiment in cutting coils off the spring??

There is a M4 type stock that you can put on a shotgun that has a shock absorber in it. Not the Knoxx one. I think mesa tac sells it. though, that may have some adverse effects on the reliability of hte weaopns as the gun needs some resistance to cycle.
