However, I'm a bit stumped - how the heck do I get the upper hanguard onto the gas tube? I've struggled and noodled with it for a while, but can't see how to get there with the front retainer tack welded in place. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
blkgunlvr 31 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Report Share Posted March 13, 2010 No longer a problem, got it straightened out. had to bend the front retainer a bit and trim a bit on the plastic upper until I could rotate it in place. A little "body work" on the front retainer with a small brass hammer to get it back into shape and a touchup with some black paint and all is well. Factory FCG is out, triggerguard off and paint is drying overnight on the receiver bottom so it can all go back together in the morning. I lucked out and have a pre-punched handgrip nut hole. harleyc 0 Posted March 13, 2010 Report Share Posted March 13, 2010 Insert from the bottom and twist 180 degrees. US marking at rear (larger end). Helps to hold the flats on the back of the tube with a vise & wrap a rag around it to grip - they're nice & tight Quote Link to post Share on other sites
