Just came across this on the news...

Disturbing trend of Mexican drug gangs violating and murdering Americans. With spring break comming up and no way to stop the kids from heading there, what is the solution for this? Do we rely on the Mexicans to police themselves or do we step in to address the issue? People who live along the border see this first hand. I used to see it when I lived in L.A. but when does it stop, when they reach New York?

Just thinking out loud.

I have been following these attacks for a bit, being a Texan and all. It pisses me off that the U.S. government and Mexico arent really doing a whole lot to stop this shit. Innocent American citizens are being killed at the hands of these drug cartels, not just other drugies and criminals.

They need to let us Texans band together and take care of this border violence our our own. Well regulated militias right? They would never allow it, basterds!

I've been watching this as well. Sounds like a declaration of war is in order. Fight them over there, so we don't have to fight them here sounds real good to me. Leveling Juarez would be a great start, except there are a lot of American companies there thanks to NAFTA. Remember when Reagan came into office Iran hostages=done, Panama college students kidnapped=done. Where's the iron hand to beat that narco-state into submission. If they took the gloves off of you Texas, Arizona, New Mexico guys, it would be cleaned up real quick.

Nothing will happen until it affects Pelosi's district. Right now all she cares about is getting those shooting victims free healthcare. Next will probably be stopping the flow of all those select fire assault rifles, RPG's, and hand grenades I always see pictured in those large busts they do for the press... from coming from those evil El Paso gun shops that are apparently supplying the entire war down there single handedly.

Basically I wouldn't count on anything being done, unless it involves taking away more gun rights of Americans or taking control of another part of the private sector.

The solution seems glaringly obvious to me but maybe I'm just too young. If these drugs that the cartels are fighting over weren't illegal and could be bought legitimately, they wouldn't have much to fight about. I believe there is a reason that not many gangsters have hustled moonshine since the alcohol prohibition ended. Perhaps because you can buy much higher quality, safer, legal whiskey from a store.

That gets me thinking that I could go for some nice peach shine, but now I'm getting off track...

It's hard to believe that with all the revenue that would create that it hasn't happened yet. Besides the tax, you would have producers, distributors, after market do-dads, etc. I think it's a combination of moral leaders, alcohol, tobacco, and pharmacies not liking the idea of more competition.

Hello

Sounds pretty simple, but there's a lot of $$$ to be made in the trafficking of humans, too. Most of the traffickers (not the cartels) multi-task as they make their way across the "border" (yeah, right...)

Panama college students kidnapped=done.

I am guessing you're talking about the Medical students in Grenada in October of 1983 (Regan), but confusing it with the general invasion of Panama in December of 1989 (Bush I) - (where no students were taken hostage, but several U.S. military members had been grabbed by the Panamaniac's - & we wanted Noriaga.).
