joe_glockster 0
Has anyone used RIO shotgun ammo in their Saiga 12s? If so, what did you think of the quality? Thanks! Joe_Glockster
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
You know it's funny you mentioned that because I just ordered 75 rounds or Rio 2 3/4 00 Buck cause it was dirt cheap, I'll let you know how it is. I also bought some Fiocchi #4 buck and Nobelsport 00 Buck cause that was cheap too. And Some Nobelsport .65 cal ball ammo.
Lone Star Arms 2,047
I have a case of Rio Royal 2 3/4" 9 pellet 00' buck in my safe. Love it! Well balanced for the S12 - great for exploding gallon water jugs, and capable of going right through 2 x 4 at 15 - 25 feet. I believe I paid about .50 a shell for it. Great stuff. No complaints! BrutalGardener 205
Too long to fit in the MD Arms drum, but fine otherwise.
IndyArms 10,186
I see a LOT of RIO used for trap from other trap team individuals... I even reload the hulls... the only problem is you have to use Nobel Sport or Fiocchi primers as the primer pockets are too large to accept a standard 209 primer. ( they will fall out ) They reload nicely, even though they only have a 6 point crimp instead of 8... ( have to change the pre crimp station on the press is the only thing... LOL I am not fond of the steel bases in my more expensive shotties ( like the SX3... ) but they are just fine for the mossberg and the Saigas! they work decently for cheap reloads. PVT Pablo 25
RIO ammo is awesome. I bought 250 rounds of it from cabelas a couple months ago and shot it all. Not one failure. The price sweetens the deal
Mullet Man 2,114
I've used the full power #4 21 pellet with no issues. It is wide spread patterning since there is no cup. I will order it again @ 250rds for $109. I think it would make great home defense ammo.

danklab 57
I could never get the RIO - 00, 2 3/4" buck to cycle reliably in my S12. Never had issues with anything else though. 4 port gun. Even shoots the cheapo Rem and Win 7.5 loads if I'm using a mag. It seemed to me that the base was just slightly larger than other brands of shells in diameter. Had a friend that said it didn't shuck in/out of his Rem 870 as smooth as other rounds.
scattergunner 12
the patterning thread on this page has a link to a youtube vid that shows some pretty impressive patterns with the rio buck through a saiga12.
