These will be installed in one of the Tom Cole Signature Series lines, and Im sure will be an option on regular conversions as well. None are available to the public for individual purchase at this time. Oh, there is a purpose to them, alright.

You guys want to really smooth the trigger pull and rust proof the FCG on one shot ? Plus extending life of for ever on the parts?

you got it brother....the latter of what you said is the main object. This is something Tom and I have been discussing and trying to figure out the final details on for over two years now, and is finally coming into reality. The last major hitch was figured out about 4 or 5 months ago, and Tom has decided to move ahead with this particular line.

We will give more details in the coming weeks...

Relative hardness of two sliding parts has less to do with wear then you might think. The finish (polish) is a large factor, as well as the metallurgic compatibility - stainless likes to gall - or transfer metal, chrome is good for it's stability - it doesn't transfer metal with steel when in sliding contact. Also chrome provides protection from surface rust (rust is both abrasive AND corrosive, as well as hydrophilic), and the hardness resists abrasion (the enemy of finish) rust and abrasion = accelerated wear. If you don't like chrome you could polish and Tuff-Tride the parts (an industrial process that surface hardens steel into iron nitride ) almost as hard but not as corrosion resistant.TiN (titanium nitride) would be very good too.
