getitat 609
Hello I've got a couple of AK pistolas that I have plans for, but I reckon this bunc of wizards has done shit I haven't even dreamed of....Much less done. Both of mine are currently being worked on, so they aren't good for photo op's at the moment... Let's see what ya got! -guido
sharkbit 109
here's a bling DRACO for ya..... not mine and I'm not selling, but is on GB now, check out the rest of the pics. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=166614226
getitat 609
Wow...All that bling and farkle, with a plastic grip. I suppose it's better than the "pseudo-burl" job that came on mine, though. I suppose somebody is pretty proud, but well....Maybe not for me. guido

corbin 621
Not as flashy as the gold plated one, but it's mine. The lower HG retainer doesn't have the curved lips to keep the HG from rising up, but the screws on the Ultimak act as a stop. The Bulgarian HG has a stainless heatshield that perfectly mates up with the U shaped blocks that hold the Ultimak onto the barrel. Has Aimpoint T-1 Microdot on Ultimak. Co-witnesses too: This is ultimately what I'd like to do, if MI ever allows for SBR: Edited April 28, 2010 by Corbin
getitat 609
Vicious looking unit, Corbin! I was considering something similar, maybe with the wood lower handguard left in place. Take much effort to shorten the Ultimak to fit? Respectfully, guido Not as flashy as the gold plated one, but it's mine. corbin 621
It wasn't too hard. The hardest part was just dremeling the inside to fit over the FSB.

Just picked up a Draco last week!! I was wondering if you can share your info to me on how you customized the Ultimak rail to fit the draco? (what model Ultimak, tools used, etc.) I would really appreciate it!! Thanks in advance

(what model Ultimak, tools used, etc.) I would really appreciate it!! Thanks in advance I didn't take a lot of pictures of the conversion process, but it's pretty straight forward. I should say though, the model M7 Ultimak (for the AMD-65) does fit and would work on the Draco without modification. You'd just have a 1/4" gap at the front and back. See this video if you're worried gaps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hcuVyTcITQ If you don't want any gaps, then you'll have to mod the M1 model, like I did. Here's the M7: Here's the M1: I just used a band saw to cut it off. A hacksaw would be ok too. I then used a barrel drum sander on my dremel to open up the end of the thing where it fits over the gas block. A little Aluminum Black touched up the shiny silver: Hope that helps. *EDIT* Thought I'd add this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=574tPbnz4_c Just a few shots my buddy took. Gotta love the pumpkin sized flame balls. Edited May 9, 2010 by Corbin

getitat 609
Hello I just got done fitting an Ultimak on mine, was hoping that "old-school' Docter red dot would sit low enough to co-witness with, but no luck. Looks like I'll have to score one of those Aimpoint jewels......Damn the luck! -guido

vitamink 90
another option that makes fitting the m1b ultimak rail easier is using a unibit, or stepped drill bit. The steps bore out the inside faster, then u just clean it up. All in all my "corbin's ultimak draco fix" took about 10 minutes.
PinkFloyd 63
Has anyone ever tried to make a bullpup out of a draco? I'd love a little short bullpup like that...

corbin 621
That pumpkin sized ball of flame would be inches from your grille if it were bullpupped. I gotta agree. The concussion of the shot thumps you enough as it is. I wouldn't want to get my face any closer to it than I'd have to. Perhaps with a muzzle device that puts more of the blast downrange, but as it is, I wouldn't want to do that.
chevymann 13
Here's mine I've had for a few years now. I've recently picked up another and have been debating the furniture for it. I already have a MD Arms pistol grip on it and like it a lot. I'm thinking the MI AK handguard. A little pricey but looks nice.
corbin 621
Pretty nice ChevyMann. Does the flash hider really do much with these Dracos? I figured anything short of an NFA suppressor wouldn't cut the flash THAT much.
getitat 609
Hello, chevymann Ditto that, nice item. I just fitted a M.I. handguard to my Red Jacket pistol last night. Functionally, it fit fine, although there is a gap between the lower back edge and the receiver. It clamps on the barrel, kinda like an Ultimak, so the gap doesn't hurt anything, but it does show. I'll post a pic or two when I get home tonight. I figured I'd SBR that pistol rather than my Draco, at least for now. It came with a nylon handguard/rail that I didn't think would stand up to a front grip very well. The M.I. does seem to be a sturdy, well made unit. The Red Jacket has a finished underfolder trunnion installed, so I'm toying with the idea of just machining out the receiver to allow an underfolder to fit. Maybe not, I don't know.... Respectfully, guido

getitat 609
Here's mine...I know, not bringing anything new to the table, just S.O.S. I'm doing a Form 1 on the Red Jacket (grey) one. Reckon I'll keep the Draco virgin. Had to move the front handguard bracket on the barrel about 3/16" toward the receiver to get the M.I. handguard to fit properly, seems the guard that was on it was a bit long. It's a sweet-shootin' gun. I like the 24mm muzzle threads for 74 type accessories. Reckon it'll be happier with a can, too. Respectfully, guido
