How 'bout those hot-rodded Dracos?

Hello, zfields

Nice weapon. Definately Form I it.

For about the brazillionth time, if you will simply re-read (or read) the original post, you will determine that if you are not in Texas telling people that they are horrible for not being like southern Californians, then the post does not apply to you.

I, too spent way too much of my life in California although it was many decades ago, I don't know what difference that makes toward anything.

Otherwise, it was a simple lighthearted attempt at humor, so please quit the whining.

If you or anybody else choose to criticize Texans for anything that does not represent me or mine, I promise to not make a whimper.

Now, back to the guns?

Respectfully posted,

-guido

Id worry more about northern CA. I lived in both areas. So Cal most the people are to brain dead to understand the laws enough to try to push them onto others.

Take care

Zac

+1   This thread is for Draco porn. Not Valmets, not discussing GhostBuster villains, not catching up with fellow Commiefornians. Post Dracos or STFU!

UPDATE. Finally got it SBR'd

Here is my mini Draco. i missed the first boat of them and had to pay $500 for it but i think it is still worth it. i owned a custom built Red jacket firearms AK pistol before this one and sold it before the show came out. it was nice but it cost me about 800 bucks. all it was was a Romanian kit cut down to like 9 inches i think. in comparison i think these mini dracos are better built and shorter. the only complaint i have had with mine is the hand guard wont stay on it. every time i take it out and shoot a few mags through it the hand guard ends up getting very loose. I replaced it with a utg rail that i modified to fit. the gun also has a tws top cover, knockoff doctor red-dot(like a fast fire), RJF bird cage muzzle brake, an md grip and para cord loop for a one point sling. i also polished and shortened the trigger, and cut off the top of the front site hood off for a better site picture. this is my favorite gun right now because it is fun to shoot and bump fires like crazy.

Good looking mini.

You did a nice job modifying the rail. Others have reported same issue with factory hand guard.

How do you like the red dot set up? I've been thinking about a fast fire for the front rail of mine.

Good looking mini.

thanks for the compliment. i just saw your gun on the last page and really like the chrome. is that front rail the mi that is made for these? it looks good. also where did you get your rail covers, those look nice.

well i really like the red dot compared to the factory sites and really think it looks nice on there too. it really opens up the field of view on this gun. that being said i haven't shot it since i put it on. i have used this red dot on an s 12 and it worked good. it is just a cheap knock off i got off eBay so i cant comment on the fast fire. i have heard a lot of good things about the fast fire but have no first hand experience with it. i'll give an update after i shoot it with the red dot if you want. the best i could do at about 20 yards with the iron sites was about a three inch group, i am hoping this tightens that group up a little with the red dot.

While I don't yet have an ATF letter to put one on my Draco, I'll be writing to get one ASAP. Assuming they clear it, I'll be needing to get a railed HG that'd work with the Ultimak.

Who and where can a guy get in contact with someone to get one of them there approval letters

Hello, WhiskeyMinion

Just google "NFA" or NFA.org and you should be able to navigate to a Form 1 from there. There's a NFA legal page where an attorney who specializes in NFA Trusts has a filled-out example of a Form 1 and walks you through it.

Pretty much swimmin' downstream from that point.

Of course, you also need to have a Sherrif, Corp. or Trust to transfer the Class III stuff. If you have a cool Sherriff to sign off, that's probably the easiest, but a Revocable NFA Trust is probably the best long-term solution.

Just whatever works for you.

Respectfully,

I am familiar with Title II regulations. I am also currently looking at doing a trust as both my new CLEOs won't sign a form 1 (plus side I get to put my wife and son as possible trustees)

My question is more in regards to putting an AFG on a pistol as a few people got letters stating it was OK. I am wondering what branch of the ATF I need to contact and how people formated the question to the ATF lol

Hello, 1911

She's a beaut, mate! Gorgeous wood you got there.

Shot it yet? I think the dogleg rails are a perfect fit for these shorties.

I think you've done the near-impossible and created a very unique hot-rodded Draco! Bravo!

Respectfully,

This was half me and half my bride at 50 yards. First time out with it and was very satisfied. I love it. My bride prefers the HK 53 SBR because it has less kick even though it has a much larger fireball. I am just happy I got a wife that goes shooting with me. LOL

I'll try to keep this to the point, but I have a question to ask. I heard from somebody that Century had stopped importing Dracos, so they were getting hard to find, and the prices are going up. Can anyone confirm this? I saw one at my LGS a few months ago and didn't think to ask them about it. I'm thinking I should snatch one up from them or an online seller while the going is good and before they go over $500 apiece. horror.gif

TBH, I was thinking about getting one of the chromed Dracos (or full size AKs) Classic Arms sells from time to time. I think they'd look real purty with some of Tapco's red Timbersmith furniture or possibly something from Ironwood Designs stained a deep red. I've been looking through this thread and on Youtube for different Draco configs, and in the immortal words of Sons of Guns, I believe that style has "nevuh been dun befoe."haha.gif

I was told by Century, they did not know when more would be imported but estimated April 2012. Classic had no idea of next batch of imports but they have never been very helpful with info. I grabbed a mini from Bud's while they were still available.

Added a set of Hogue furniture, slant brake and Krebs modified safety so far.

Plan on getting a Vortex red dot for the gas tube cover rail and need to work out a sling attachment.

Still debating SBR.

It's a lot of fun as is and I already have a couple 7.62 Saigas converted.

Not sure if the four inches of barrel is worth the the money and effort to go the SBR route.

Though I do love the look of them.

Here’s my Draco C. She’s wearing a no name birdcage flash hider, Bulgarian AK74 wood handguards, Russian PBS-1 adjustable rear sight, Ergo AK Classic pistol grip, VM-1 sling plate, Blackhawk Dieter CQD sling, and a Chinese 30 round mag. It has the underfolder rear trunnion (no holes drilled in receiver) and a 1968 front trunnion. Bought her for $375 out the door at the F.E. Warren AFB Exchange in January of last year. She came with a welded muzzle nut, Romy laminated lower and hardwood upper hanguard, Romy 1000 meter rear sight, Romy bakelight pistol grip, Romy trigger group (not molested by Century no trigger slap), and two Romy 30 round mags.
