bigsky59721 3
I have been thinking of getting a SBR/SBS and was wondering what the difference is between transfering from a form or setting up a trust? cost? legal differences? I have tried to read up a bit but my computer works in slow motion and it takes forever to search around. Any links to other threads about this or links to any info reguarding this would be appreciated.
nalioth 405
You'll be transferring on a form no matter who ends up owning the weapon. Your thread title should have been "Trust versus CLEO signature"
bigsky59721 3
Ok, as you can see I dont know what I'm talking about. So let me rephrase that. What is the difference between getting a gun transfered on lets say a form 4(besides CLEO signature) and setting up a trust? Thanks
bigj480 203
Ok, as you can see I dont know what I'm talking about. So let me rephrase that. What is the difference between getting a gun transfered on lets say a form 4(besides CLEO signature) and setting up a trust? Thanks The gun would still be transferred to the trust on a form 4. The difference is that if you set up a trust properly more than one person can posses the gun, you do not need to attach a photo or include fingerprints and you do not need a chief LEO sign off. Also, supposedly no background check is done and the process of getting the form approved is a little faster. You can also use a trust to specify what you want done with the guns when you pass away. BobAsh 582
Personally I prefer to own all my own guns in my name, so Form 1 or 4 is a must. Individuals have rights to privacy, possession and ownership that corporations do not.
