Not at this moment, I don't believe HK inserts will work. How much taller do you go?

 

when zeroing for slugs, I flattened two pieces of .22 mag brass and put them between the sight and the rail. That got me zeroed (~1" high) at 50yds. Stated another way, the shims brought my POI down ~3" at 50 yards. The shims worked, but it's seems a little "bubba" on such a bad ass piece of kit. I might be able to file the the rail where it attaches to the gas block, but I'm worried that it would lower the rear of the rail and cause disassembly issues.

 

To directly answer your question, I'd think 1/4" taller would be PLENTY tall; I would file it to zero.
