jtoddellis 2
I have removed my Front Sight Base and Gas Block. Now I need to know which gas block to order. I think I know which FSB and retainer to buy but K-var is out of the FSB's. Is there anywhere else that sells these? By the way. To remove the Gas Block and FSB I did not have to use a Press. I drove out the pins and then used PB Blaster and a hammer. It wasn't easy but they eventually came off.
jtoddellis 2
Thanks to 2ndGunman and Cris at AK-USA for helping me to find which parts to order. When they come I will have to figure out how to get them back on. Has anyone done this without a press? Edited April 28, 2005 by jtoddellis

jtoddellis 2
AK-167B AK-338 AK-334 AK-080B I ALSO USED: AK-022B AK-144B AK-320 AND A 7.62X39 CLEANING ROD All these came for K-var. It's not cheap. Edited May 13, 2005 by jtoddellis
oak 3
I didn't use a press to get them back on. I used a 1/2 inch wheel cylinder hone and took a little bit of metel off(very little) form the inside. I then dipped the barrel in a bucket of cold water, used a torch to heat up the gas block. This allowed the piece to slide into place. Be warned though, when it starts to shrink, it goes quick. I had to do a little pounding on the gas block to get it just right. The FSB didn't need heating, just a mallet. Good luck.

cvasqu03 21
Just a question. Why did you have to change the gas block? The way I see it, you need to remove it to insert the front handguard holder/sling attachment point, but couldn't you just put the original one back on? I'd think it would be fine, especially if you're going to use the Tapco Galil style handguards, which would work better with a gas tube with no handguards. Does the standard Saiga gas tube not accept regular AK gastubes?
jtoddellis 2
You only change the gas block because of the cleaning rod.
