DrGonZo 157
I just got the bullpup kit yesterday that I ordered from Centerfire Systems. It didn't come with instructions so I'm pretty much wingin' it. I broke down my rifle and put everything in place to see how it fits. Just about every piece needs a little bit of dremmeling to fit properly. The trigger was a bit of a bitch to get in. and its a bit stiff, but it'll have to do for now. I still need to get a .308 HG retainer, UltiMAK gas tube (when they are released), and a barrel clamp rail for a vertical fore-grip. MY BULLPUP DREAM IS COMING TRUE FINALLY!!! The ergonomics are fantastic. The balance is just about perfect with the 22" bbl and SGM break. I can't wait to test it out! I'll post some pics when it gets a little closer to completion. WoodenNinja 2
Can't wait, haven't seen that kit, is it .308 specific, or are you '.308ing it like we have to with everything? It's too bad I'm left handed or else that would be VERY tempting Edited June 20, 2010 by WoodenNinja
1liter 20
Lets see some pics!
DrGonZo 157
Its not specifically made for the 308 so its taking a LOT of customization, and its not finished yet, but when I get home later, I'll post a pic or 2 of the incomplete rifle. DrGonZo 157
Here's a quick pic of it. Still needs HG retainer, gas tube rail and gas block mounted rail for vertical fore grip or bi-pod. Edited June 22, 2010 by DrGonZo
BpS12 512
Very nice start. What's your Overall Length?

OMFG!! That my friend is some serious hardcore gun porn. I've gotta go have a smoke now. That looks soooo good with the long barrel. Have you had the bolt on brake for long? Many rounds through it? What are your thoughts on it?
DrGonZo 157
Thanks for the compliments guys I'm very excited about this build. I was bit by the Saiga bug first, then the Bullpup bug. Its a great learning experience and a TON of fun! I would sit on my ass and build guns all day long if I had my druthers. OAL = 34.5" LOP = 17" I've had the SGM break for a few months now and have put about 50-70 rounds though the gun with it on. I love it It looks a bit bulky, but it definitely reduces felt recoil and increases accuracy on follow up shots. I am more than likely going to remove the FSB and thread the BBL. Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll let you know when I decide to get rid of it. Edited June 28, 2010 by DrGonZo
csspecs 1,987
How is the balance? Duh I need to read before I post. Good to hear, I had thought the 21" .308 would bullpup well. I made a bullpup with my 16 inch 7.62x39 and it was rather back heavy, I had thought that the 20 inch .308 would probably work pretty good because they normally feel front heavy. BpS12 512
OAL = 34.5" Kool, it'll still fit in my 36" bag. Are you looking at mounting an optic, w/ or w/o buis? I'm thinking the front sight will need to be raised or maybe scraped if you go just optic.
DrGonZo 157
I plan on mounting an UltimAK railed gas tube and using a red dot and a long range scope (at different times of course). I also plan on removing the FSB and threading the barrel and installing some sort of break or hider or combo. There are so many to choose from (I'm leaning toward the FSC30). I would like to get some BUIS, but I have no experience with them and don't really know what would work with my setup. This project is FAR from done and I am not exactly close to being able to afford all the parts I need ( some of which are not even available yet). I have a few ideas for mounting a bi-pod or vertical fore-grip, but the part I have in mind requires some modification. Stay tuned. I'll update and post pics when parts arrive and I install 'em. I can't wait to range test this beast.
DrGonZo 157
A very small update, I got my Dinzag lower handguard retainer and I modified a UTG barrel mount tri rail to fit. I cant wait for that UltimAK rail!! One of these days when I get a Sat. or Sun off I'll take her down to the range and post an actual update... but for now, heres a little picture. yellowcarbon 4
What about adapting an Ultimak Saiga-12 rail? I am just thinking out loud, but it doesn't seem like it would take too much work to put it on there.
leadslinger 37
now that is one sweet looking weapon. I have been yearning for a .308 again. I would be interested in what the felt recoil and accuracy are like . I have a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser and if this bull pup could equal long distance shots then it would be worth a long look. Plus the ammo would be much more affordable. I wish there was a bigger market for the 6.5 x 55 to bring the price of ammo down. I really like that round.
CJS3 3
Nice looking rifle. Are you able to use the factory sights, or are you going to have to mount optics?
leadslinger 37
i wander if you could convert to a 6.5 x 55. with just a bolt and barrel? would bullet fit in the 308 mags?
Cobra 76 two 2,677
That would be a negative. I just checked. Sweet rifle though! Got one myself and love it. (6.5 Swedish Mauser) The bullpup is coming along nicely. Please update us when you get the new parts.
leadslinger 37
thanks cobra. i figured as much but hey a man could dream. I wander what it would take to do that kind of conversion. I would like to see if it would be any more accurate?
Darko 42
seriously Gonzo - generally I'm not a fan of bullpups. but I would totally hit that. well done
DrThunder88 912
I agree. I don't like bullpups, but I like that!
BallzFast 4
i am curious if there are some newer and clearer pics of the bullpup. and i have a 1910 swedish match rifle in 6.5 also. love it.
DrGonZo 157
Sorry the video ends so abruptly, but my camera's battery died. Anyways, The rifle functioned flawlessly. I fired about 60 rounds through her without a single issue. The trigger wasnt as bad as most people say. I did polish it up a bit though. There is a tiny bit of creep but not as much as a Glock. The balance was PERFECT while shooting and with the SGM brake, recoil felt minimal, a tad more than my 7.62x39. I cant wait to get that UltiMAK tube and get some optics mounted! It would have been so much more fun if I could actually know where the bullet would hit rather that guessing with no sights. All in all I am extremely excited to finally get to shoot my rifle after her bullpup conversion. MOV02992.MPG Edited February 24, 2011 by DrGonZo
DrThunder88 912
Well, we know it worked one time! Looks good! I'm glad to hear it's functioning properly. Let us know when it's fully kitted out.
Zambidis 90
i wander if you could convert to a 6.5 x 55. with just a bolt and barrel? would bullet fit in the 308 mags? A 260 Remington should be doable. For a long time I've thought a "Saiganov" converted to .260 remington with a nice barrel would be kind of cool. Someone on here had a S308 converted to .243, but I'm not sure the make of the barrel. Not a project I'm going to tackle as I'd rather save the money for the AI Artic Warefare and a .260 Rem barrel that I'm after. For someone who could do all the work them self it would be a cool relatively affordable project
