Pure AK-47 Bull Pup Porn

It was a good day in the shop

I still have a lot of work to do but I think my rail looks a lot better then this

I'm sure I can make this work on my S-410 and I might be able to squeeze and S-12 into this set up.

I'll eventually add this image and information about the mod to my Bull Pup progress thread but I'm so excited about the way this turned out I thought it deserved it's own thread

That quad rail looks absolutely bad ass!!027.gif Do you plan on putting some kind of vertical fore-grip on it for your front hand? Also, what kind of optics are you going to use? I love it000.gif, Keep up the good work!

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that likes this one :)

I already have a broom stick mounted on front. It looks too close to the trigger guard but it isn't.

I'm going to use flip up AR sights with an Eotech style optic in the center.

I have to make the barrel shroud and paint everything and then I'll post a new picture tonight.

Here is a shot of it with the mag and the broom stick

Here is a shot of my bull pup compared to an original (with the exception of the butt stock pad, which I added)

Thats the hottest bullpup I've seen, very nice work! Makes me wish I wasn't a lefty.

Thanks

Do the right side charging handle mod :)

if they all came like that, I'd own one.. Very nice

(is the top rail an issue at all when firing it? seems a bit long and potentially eye poking)

and just seconding the want for a picture with a mag

I doubt it will be an issue. I have plenty of eye relief.

You could build this gun for about $600. You just need the AKU-94 ($400), both UTG Saiga 7.62 and S-12 Rails ($140) a few other misc parts. Do some fancy mods with a table and miter saw combined with a lot of hand filing and a few hours later you have one

That is super, super sexy man. That is so cool I will be the first to say that you need to do a step by step thread with pics, parts, prices etc.

Hell I may even request a sticky on the how to thread if you do it. I'm not anybody around here, but if I beg nicely.......................021.gif

Seriously, that is bad ass.027.gif

Imo, if a weapon is to use a bull-pup design, it should be built from the ground up for exactly that. Otherwise... :ded:

I am interested to see the final configuration and some video of you shooting it, though.

Nice fit BD,

PA, It's a lot like shooting a pistol with the rifle butt attachment. Using a Shotgun barrel mount mini tri-rail and a longer rail, I fashioned a fore-rail for my Bullpuped S12 that allowed the fore-grip to be moved farther forward. Gives you more control, but that's on a 19"+ barrel. On the 16"ers, it may not be as necessary.

I would agree with you that Bullpups "should be built from the ground up for exactly that." But how many of us can actually afford one of those. The next best option, imho, is a converted AK platform Bullpup. In the long run, the AK BPs may be more reliable anyway.

Just my 2 bits,

From what I've heard, the kit's trigger wire works well with the rifles and smaller shottys. But a small cable and clamps seems to be the ticket for the S12 as the Kit's wire can drag on the mags.

BD, did you say you were gonna do flip up BUIS and an optic? I think that would be a rocking combo. Keep up the good work.

I'm going to do a flip up in the back. I haven't found a low profile front flip up so I will use the low profile FSP already mounted on the rail.

I still haven't decided on what optic to use.

Pretty neat project BD. It sure streamlined the looks of it but appears your sight plane is now even higher than the stock one. How's the cheekweld when aquiring the sights you pictured? If you could figure out an optic that would give you a good cowitness with some lower profile irons, that would alleviate the higher sight plane. A set of Chaos' new low pro HK style irons would be the shit on your setup!

I don't think my grips are too close together. It really does have a natural feel to it and is not at all clumsy.

Compared to FNH's offerings.

I think my grip distance is fairly close to the STG's. I will compare to my buddy's next range day.

Sorry to jack your thread Boba!

No worries MT, your AK bull pup is great and the gas tube rail system looks very solid.

Does the optic co-witness with the iron sights?

I considered using and Ultimac with the Krebs recover rail but when I added up the cost I determined that I could make a single unified quad rail for about the same amount of money

:super:outstanding!! i wonder what your Brain would look like through an MRI? keep up the great work!

Thanks.........................I think

Yup! Mine co-witnesses great. I had to mock it up with the Ultimak and the Aimpoint QRP (no spacer), then measured what I needed to space it with, and thankfully there was 3/4" riser that worked for me which I had to mod a bit to match the Ultimak length plus the clearance needed in the rear. Yours really looks clean though. That bitch would look bad with a set of Cameron's HK sights on your rail.

I think they said in the thread regarding the new Chaos sights was that the sight plane is 1/2 a inch from the top of the rail so an Aimpoint T1 or possibly Jpoint, Fastfire should give a cowitness in the lower 1/3 of the RDS.

Damn, Boba, you have vision and talent! I'm still stuck on how your second pic looks though. An S-12 in that config would be cool, and I've seen where people have added a rail on the dust cover for optics instead of having the front sight sit so high. (no front sight, just an optic, or the side plate to mount an optic) Would anything like that be feasible at all for an S-12? Thanks.

Which second picture?? The second picture I posted is of the factory gun.

Once I sell my S-12 Race Gun I'll start buying the parts to make an S-12 version with my rail, it shouldn’t be too much harder to do.

On this bull pup design the sights have to be high or you can not get proper sight picture. The center of the factory sight system is 3 3/8" from the bore axis, mine is 3 1/2"

The difference is that my single rail is very versatile, I can mount hundreds of iron sight/optic combinations.
