Looking for good pictures of the Saiga SWAT model

Recommended Posts

Good pics.  That safety lever has an extra tab on it doesn't it?  Looks like it would be for the grip hand to operate it maybe with your forefinger?  Doesn't look like it would be that easy, but not a bad idea.

I use a Blackjack swift lever and use my Grip forefinger to release it. It works extremely fast and easy. Didn't even have to retrain myself, it is a lot more natural.

Here is one site I just found while looking for something else.

<a href='http://club.guns.ru/eng/symposium.html' target='_blank'>http://club.guns.ru/eng/symposium.html</a>

Probably not what you were looking for,but I thought I would share this with everybody.

These .ru sites have some interesting things, although some statements

concerning the AWB are now outdated.

Check out the left handed shooter with the laser optics, might be rough for him without it.

How about the UK legal gun length of 40",

Swing that one around in the house.

i am more intersted in the mag well composition or previous makeup, the hardness of the rivets holding it there, and if the rear sight block is opened up any or modified for the odd gas piston of the s12.

I believe if i recall correctly, that this obviously superior firearm was not made in quantity and is special order only due to production costs.

the second picture of the gun is one that actually won the finnish 2002 or 2003 (forget which year......probably both years) open shotgun class. note plastic whatever in bolt, for you range masters to refer to for guns lacking bolt hold opens. I know how hard it is to think of something like that.

why exactly cant i have this gun? thats pretty damn sporting if you ask me.

oh, the rear sight block is customised (not a lot, mind you) from a standard AKM sight block, the front gas block appears to be a custom milled part, and the rear cover can be had at just about any gun shop or show for 20-40 bucks, depending who you ask.

rumor has it this gun ran over 2k direct and was a request. something like this in country (imagine the facists letting one of these be sold to civvies...HAH) would be worth 4k right now in my opinion, less if it was domestically made and out of civilian ok alloys like its supposed to be. if in fact it came from the factory like you see it.

Bvamp, thanks bud...the rear sight and front block are items I wanted a good look at. AKM uh, I might have to take a look at K-VAR and see what they have to play with. Wonder if they did anything with the gas block to increase dwell time ????

Hey, with the front sight right in front of the gas block, how do you adjust the gas thing, you know, with the "1" and "2"? Or does the swat version not have that feature? Or maybe it is there and you just have to work around the sight block.

Some time ago I bored everyone to death with S12-030 pics postings so I hold this ones for the moment someone will directly ask for it

I don't know whether it helpful ot not

here we go...

http://archer42.narod.ru/index12030.html

Sorry - that damn thing don't want let me post here.

narod.ru resource where I put this stuff seems a bit retarding

It has no gas regulator like traditional Saiga12

12-030 is still very raw shotgun indeed. It has many issues and still in preproduction testing study despite speculation in russian weapon-related magazines. Actually IZHMASH stopped ad company in media because they still unable to produce realy usable model of this shotgun

12-030 shown on photoes is property of Moscow IPSC team "Grindin"

I'd kill for a look at that magwell. All the early production S12s I see don't appear to use the standard S12 magazines ours do.

And those pics from Russia are taking for DAMn EVER to download. ARe they hosted on Dialup or some thign?

Well, our country exports high-grade softcore porn and they export weapons. So...there you have it.

Look, all I can see is the thumbnails but it looks to me like the Saiga-12 SWAT really doesn't take standard mags. That magwell is much to narrow. Therefore, if it has a forward latch then it's not necessarily designed to accomodate the magazines we use in the normal way.

I'm trying to formulate a forward latch design to make reloading on a closed bolt more workable, and I thought I'd imitate the S12SWAT design. But it looks like its quite different. Can anyone who managed to load th pics up close confirm that?

can we get more pictures of the mags and the magwell ?

How do they lock up ?

It looks like the original mag release is still utilized...

LB

It looks to me that they are basically the same mags but that the front tang is not there and they don't have the 3 grooves on the side but instead, the walls are thicker below that point. Also, it looks like the follower stop is eliminated so that the follower can come all the way up.

The idea is to eliminate the rocking action of inserting the mag, and also allow it to drop free when you press the mag release. Perhaps also the extra travel of the follower gives it a little push to drop it out of the magwell.

Us fellas in Florida don't know how to use an abacus, but we can take our shoes off to count to 19. We don't have bears roaming the streets, but we have alligators.

The magazine well obviously is a add-on part. We need a blueprint or a picture of it (by itself) or a contact to purchase it.
