which bullet guide?

Recommended Posts

The important question is round or flat trunion. Most of the 5.45's have a flat trunion, I have not seen one with a round trunion. Field strip the gun and look at where the barrel/chamber meets the receiver. You will see a little gap inside the gun between the magazine well and the barrel. If it's rounded you have a round trunion, if the bottom of it is flat, you have a flat trunion. Carolinashooterssupply.com has the kits that come with a bit/tap/guide.

its flat.i have looked at CSS and all of theirs are listed as 7.62x39.i would just call but i have not gotten a chance to call during buisness hrs due to work.

I'd suggest shooting 74 mags without one first. My 5.45 went through 700+ rounds without a single jam using the Bulgarian polymer mag.

i dont have the poly mags which most people get away without bg.i have bakelite mags and they do not work without bg.

I asked Greg at CSS about 5.45 bullet guides and he said he was expecting them in a couple of weeks. Hopefully soon.

May as well just wait for CSS. Even if the K-Var guide was the right one, they charge $12 for shipping even if the item you're ordering is 1oz, and they go UPS ground from Nevada so unless you're west coast it's 5+ business days. I order from them when I need very specific parts like certain screws, springs, etc. but I just can't justify getting raped on shipping the way they do.

+1 on that suggestion. I'm into my 3rd spam can of bulgy 7n6 and ~400 rounds of commercial wolf 60 and 70gr ammo w/o and bullet guide using Bulgarian ak-74 mags. Thus far zero problems.

Sorry for my response above...I just read your response!!! I hope it helps someone though!
